AeroMexico site isn't showing any flights to Penasco as of this afternoon. Our kids keep checking - hopefully.

Algo es ,mejor de nada! The Mexicans ( the stable tourist in this time) travel in the summer. It makes sense to me that a Mexican Airline would cater to a Mexican audience........maybe or maybe not......what do I know? I am just a cheerleader!

I wonder how much it is for Scottsdale to Penasco? Why aren't they promoting it? Lots of TV commercials on Ch. 12 for RP every morning lately.

You're making my point for me, this is what Im talking about. This isn't to help anyone in America and furthermore, the business owners in Rocky Point all bitch about how little the domestic tourism spends while in town. I mean lets face it, Boo Bar is only open 3 days a week in the Summer time because the domestic Mexican tourism only wants to use his bar to take a piss, they dont want to actually spend money. The only people that benefit from domestic tourism is the hotel and condo owners! How many times have we heard the complaint that domestic mexican tourism doesnt spend money in town?! MULTIPLE!

And DOG just made my other point, this is a front for Mexicans with money from Hermosillo to visit VEGAS, this has nothing to do with Mexicans actually coming to Rocky Point and the ones that do are the ones that the business owners complain about, the ones that only use the BOO BAR to take a piss, not actually buy anything. Seems like this is a sham to me but I guess at least Jerry's buddy from Alaska will be able to make it down to Santo Tomas when the TEMP is 98 degrees with 87% humidity!!!!

This topic seems to be very polarizing, there are many different potential viewpoints:
Person#1: I live in Penasco and just wanna relax, I don't care about flights, and in fact don't wanna see Rocky Point grow any more
Person#2: I live in AZ, and drive down. I don't really care about flights, but it might be cool for friends/family to fly and meet me here
Person#3: I'm Mexican from Sonora and for the beach would much rather go to San Carlos or Kino- but Vegas?! I'm in!!!
Person#4: I'm a condo owner and want to max out my property value so any growth is good growth
I'm sure there are more viewpoints and combinations of these.
My personal case: I live in AZ but my wife is Mexican from Sonora. We got married in Rocky Point and she had several friends (from Guadalajara & Monterrey) that had to fly to Hermosillo and then take a 9-hr bus ride. They said they would definitely come back if there were domestic flights but the horrible bus ride is a deal breaker. I have family from New York that flew to Phoenix and shuttled. They would also love to take a connection through Vegas to come down. My sister-in-law loves Vegas AND Rocky Point and found out about the flights and said the her Mom and her are already planning a Vegas/RockyPoint trip.
So... aside from anti-growth sentiment (which is a legitimate concern for anyone that love Penasco's 'real Mexico' charm), my thought is that in life more options are generally better than less. If the route is successful and is stable or (gasp) grows, it is simply one more option on the table for access to Penasco.

Who said they cater to the 40+ gringo crowd and how would you know who they cater to, you just admitted you've only been there once?! LOL Boo Bar alone isn't the barometer of success, I'm just using them as an example. Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about, Mexican, American, African, Canadian, Marshan, who gives a sh!t, Boo Bar and establishments cater TO PEOPLE THAT LIKE FOOD AND ALCOHOL. Their target market is anyone WHO LIKES FOOD AND ALCOHOL so I don't know how that only applies to 40+ GRINGOS. You're clearly missing the point and once again DOG made my point OTRA VEZ and its funny because YOU LIKED IT!!!! LOLOLOL Exactly to my point, The Mexicans come in and party on the beach. Unless you own a ATV rental, CONDO/HOTEL, ARE A MARIACHI, or A CIRCLE K/OXXO then you don't see the CASH FLOW. This is the summertime in a nutshell for a business like Boo Bar, DOMESTIC TOURISM ↑ BAR BUSINESS ↓. So what I'm saying is these businesses have donated money to this FLIGHTS INTO RP scheme under the impression that AMERICANS are going to be the ones taking advantage of these new COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS and clearly as DOG and I have stated this seems to HIM AND I that this is more for Mexicans living in Hermosillo to VISIT LAS VEGAS. A business like BOO BAR is only open 3 days a week in the summertime because it has been already proven that DOMESTIC TOURISM doesn't frequent the bar establishments so what does it matter if PLANE LOADS of DOMESTIC TOURISM are coming in throughout the summer?! Business isn't going to change. Why only have flights be SEASONAL in the hottest part of the YEAR for RP?????
