a catfish story...

A guy who lives at Lake Conroe

(50 miles north of Houston) saw a ball bouncing around kind ofstrange in the lake and went to investigate.

It turned out to be a flathead catfish that had apparently tried to swallow a basketball which became stuck in its mouth!!

The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to, because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface.

The guy tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish.

You probably wouldn't have believed this, if you hadn't seen the

I'm sorry, but they are one of the most unattractive and unappealing looking fish...................really, no wonder I don't particularly care for their flavor!!!!!!!!!!! (It's alright, but there are a hundred different fish that I'd rather eat that look a lot cuter (snicker!)). But that is a cool story and very entertaining pics!!!!! It reminds me of when I would fish for salmon off the San Juan Islands in Washington with my dad...........................we would catch a lot of what he called "dogfish". I don't know what they were exactly, but he would slit their stomachs open and throw them back in.......................he said they weren't good for anything but making us think they were a salmon!!!! But I don't remember if they were as ugly as the catfish...............................................................................................................
