I've never seen a Gila trout that size - impressive. Looks similar to Apache Trout.
We slayed yesterday at Willow Springs - had a nice gathering of 9 friends - fun stuff!

He went there yesterday and caught his limit again, with a big rainbow thrown in. He released a bunch too. Glad to hear you guys are doing well Joe. Say hi for me.
Filters being removed at beaches
While beach hours, social distancing, and other health measures are to remain in effect, all health filters from beach entrances will soon be a thing of Puerto Peñasco’s Covid summer past. In fact, the only health filter still in place at a beach entry point is that located in the area known as “Bajada de los Guardado” on the north side of Playa Hermosa, though this too will be removed after this weekend.
Luis César García González, local director of the Federal Maritime Land Zone office (ZOFEMAT), stated filters first installed near Manny’s in the Mirador as well as at the entrance to Cholla Bay had already been removed and additional access points restored (i.e. Mi Playa).
Still, health measures and beach hours remain in effect. This includes use of masks in public and when interacting with vendors (not necessary once you’ve set up space or in sea), no glass bottles, taking one’s trash for disposal, and spacing between rental tents/shades and food carts. In addition, beaches still close at 7 p.m.

My friend will be there in 2 weeks for 4 days to chill and fish. What time is he allowed out of his cage in the morning? He doesn't like breaking the law in Mexico. He doesn't have the money for it. Asking for a friend. Thanks!

6-8a technically for exercising only, but many were out between those times that weren't exactly what I'd call exercising. Didn't really see any of the quads enforcing that early. Off beach by 7p and they were enforcing that last week, at least on Mirador side.

Bring a dumbbell with you, should be fine lol. Actually not sure if any enforcement going on over there, but if someone was bored I'm sure they could come up with multiple ways to screw with you, I mean your friend.

They've all come down. Except for maybe Cholla, I heard, and haven't seen any. Beach is busy and the Malecon absolutely packed today.
It was taken down after Labor Day per my local buddy. Some of the resorts are still using them.

Odd, but the corporate mantra. The Malecon is a dichotomy of mask/ no mask.
Everywhere we went on Saturday outside the Malecon, La Flamita, Burros Longos, Sams, and others, required masks. Only Sams took our temp.
My friend is really trying hard to get his jet ski ready for CB in 2 weeks. He told me he broke a piston ring putting one of the jugs onto the case... He's really upset. I can understand his frustration. Now he has to wait 4 days for new rings before he can button up the engine. He told me he still needs to go through the carbs to make sure the boat is mint. He said it's crunch time and not sure if he'll be able to lake test it before the trip. I told him boats are like women... Can't live with em, can't live without em. Love hate relationship.

Every time we drive by the marina and see the out of commission shrimp boats I think how cool it would be to totally refurbish one into a comfortable live aboard!
sometimes they are not decommissioned but there are only so many fishing permits issued each year and now with the cost of diesel some boats are just not able to go. You are right though it would be a challenge and a cool thing to retro a boat into a live aboard

I seem to remember that years ago, somebody retro'd one into an overnight fisher. Did couple of day trips out of Penasco. Always thought this would be pretty cool.

A little off subject, I'm outfitting an 11' inflatable for fishing. It's a Zodiak pontoon type. I know I'll need a fishing permit just in case. But do I need a Boat permit or import permit as well ? I use Vagabundos Ins and heard that they may be able to help. The vessel is heavy duty and has a air keel as well as a aluminum slat floor, I'll be using a 5 hp Nissan.Thanks in advance !!

So the 5,942 new cases Kenny reported today were really from around Dec 23-24. The expected surge numbers from X-Mas will
start showing up around Jan. 15-20th in the official releases.

I got THE C-VID!!! Damn... New Years Day I felt weird and had a headache but didn't really drink much at all the night before so couldn't figure that out. Saturday I still felt weird like I was getting sick but continued with my day working on my truck and then Saturday night the fever hit and Sunday, Monday fever of 100.6. Initially symptoms were headache, sinus congestion and fever. Eventually about 3 or 4 days ago I lost my smell/taste. Yesterday I started feeling better, almost normal to be honest. I broke the fever Monday night. Today overall I feel good again but I still have sinus congestion, and no taste/smell. Possible slight headache due to sinus congestion.
This is where this gets fun. Claudia who has been here this whole week with me including every day of symptoms, sleeping together and living in this condo, tests negative for C vid and me positivo! I had to call my boss Monday and tell him because I had symptoms and needed to rule out C-Vid before I could responsibly and consciously return to work. We went Monday together to a Maricopa County drive up in N Phx/Deer Valley and waited 2 hours. Got our results back yesterday approximately 24 hours after the test. So now I'm in limbo. Directions say that I have to wait an additional 48hrs after my last symptoms go away. I still have the sinus and no taste so I guess the waiting game continues. My girlfriend only lost one day of work in limbo until we could rule her out. She's back to work today after going to her parents house after receiving our notifications.

All three of our mid-20 year old kids got the virus just before Christmas. They had symptoms similar to yours, and have been back at work since Monday.

Glad you’re going to be OK. I still don’t know whether I got the vaccine or the placebo in the Pfizer trial. They say they will tell us and allow the placebo group to cross over into the vaccine group “by” March 1, whatever that means.

I was just repeating what Kris Pickle on Channel 5 reported yesterday. I really don't care which numbers are right.
I do know, It's going to be kinda ugly over the next 3-5 months with Covid. I know of about 20 people, 21 now with Mexico Joe,
who have/had it and 3 who have died from it.

This is what we're looking at so far today, and it's from the best set of numbers available. So we should be looking at over 300 deaths today in AZ.

Feeling pretty good except I still have some sinus congestion and I still can't taste or smell which is starting to get annoying. I haven't had a beer in 6 days!

You got this. Step-daughter and her family had it after Thanksgiving. We had them over for Christmas dinner and all we're fine. Obviously, it affects different people differently and those over 65 generally get it worse and are the highest death rate so far. Be glad yer a young awnry bastard!! Hahahah!

There are no Covid restrictions on entering town. I’ve seen several state police and National Guard checkpoints concerned with criminal activity including one at El Golfo on Saturday. Mask discipline by both Gringos and Mexicans around town has been very good. Walking into a restaurant without a mask just isn’t happening. I don’t know about Sandy Beach. We don’t wear masks in the car.

No covid restrictions coming into Sonoyta or Puerto Penasco at all. Smooth sailing. It seems like more people are not wearing masks in their cars in town now. The vendors are wearing masks on the beach, but most others on the beach aren't. You must have a mask on to enter stores or businesses.

We had used our expired passports for almost 2 years, we were told 2x out of 20 trips that they were expired and should be updated.
One agent said they were still valid for land travel into the USA. I've read the travel requirement for some countries that require you
to have a passport with more than 6 months left on it. Humm?

My buddy told me that in light of all the recent events Mexico has agreed to pay for the wall!.. Canada wants one too.

I think I'm going to keep using it. I have the FM transmit card. I've noticed the last two trips since it's expiration the electronic counter thing that you hold the card out the window for doesn't recognize the card now. Furthermore, you all should see the condition of my passport card. The laminate has completely come off so it pretty much looks fake at this point. The best part. I don't even care and the last 3 or 4 trips I literally hand the officer the blank backing card and then the clear laminate that has my photo and all info. LOL
