I have Verizon as well. It's $1.00 per minute roaming, .50 to send texts and .05 to receive them. I'm on the $39.99 per month plan, so these charges are cool with me. And, I've never had any problems with it down there.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. This is a very common practice in the states..........stealing copper wire, stripping it and then taking it to a recycling place for money. Where in PP do they have such a facility??? And if they're not stealing it for that reason, then why??? It is very sad...
