I believe the question of a flare gun was asked in the Fishing forum....and the regulars responded that it was not illegal....but it would be well worth checking it out. At the point of having to use a flare gun for self defense, I would risk that it was illegal.....regardless of the justice...

Yeah...it is about the children. I was impressed with the time and effort the MLB people put in to the clinic, and the way they handled themselves. I'm not a big fan of pro sports figures....I think most are spolied, overcoddled, and overpaid.....but these guys could change my mind!

The Baseball Clinic organized by Rick Busa, and put on by 5 MLB coaches went off well today. Two different sessions, with a good turnout. Several local dignateries showed up, including the Penasco Mayor, and the kids and parents were very appreciative.

Stuart...had one of those experiences there too....waited almost 30 minutes for the check...was tempted to just walk out to see if that would speed things up...but usually the service and food are decent...

Funny thing happened to me driving down to Penasco today.....several miles out of Sonoyta, there was absolutely nobody behind me....then a couple of minutes later, saw headlights....closing VERY fast....and I was not putzing allong at the speed limit....the vehicle finally caught up to me....saw...

If, and that's a big IF, I want to caravan with someone, I'll latch on to a vehicle right at the border. It would probably be a big truck/suv. They are more likely to be traveling at the speeds that I want to go. You're likely to wait for a while at an "organized" meeting place to get the 5-6...

The prices have been inching up in Penasco very slowly...every time I fill up, it's gone up a fraction, but not the fluctuations of Phoenix. I'm fortunate that I bought my truck when I did...the newer ones (2007+)require the ULSD (Ultra low sulfur deisel)...which they still don't sell in Sonoyta...

Thanks for the additional info Stuart...that definitely sheds more light on the subject! I wonder why the vehicle types were not listed in the report???? Although I have one of those "tanks", mine isn't 4WD.....but like you, I also wouldn't think twice about running one of those carjackers...

Just a thought on what we can do to give us some amount of protection..... Most of us have cell phones....if you have ATT or T-Mobile, your phone will work on the Telcel/Movistar networks (all GSM). Verizon claims they now work....based on their "history" in Mexico, I wouldn't depend on them...
