Anyone own these Transpeninsular Outfitters resources?

Hey, wouldn't that be nice.... I'm not quite :gay:enough to sit on Santa's lap and ask, but I'd certainly owe Santa a :coldone: or two if some coordinates showed up under the tree... Ordering the Fish N Maps right now....

    Fishing Report - 12/20/09

Sounds like a fun trip... good to hear that fish can still be had from some closer spots even in the dead of winter. is 65 degree water fairly typical for this time of year? Seems like that would be a tad warmer than expected for December? I know about spending your day tending to everyone...

Anyone own these Transpeninsular Outfitters resources?

The book on trailer boating Baja: http://www.transpeninsularoutfitters.com/books-pages/book.html And a map of the northern Sea of Cortez: http://www.transpeninsularoutfitters.com/books-pages/fmc.html Any opinions on these? I read you guys talking about about your favorite spots all the...

    Bait

Yeah, Lele's is awesome... Their seafood section is HUGE. They sell whole uncleaned shrimp, and tons of different bait sized fish. You can get two pounds of frozen anchovies for about 3 bucks, and the last time I was there they had a 3 pound bag of frozen pacific mackeral that were perfect...

    La Curva

Oh, I know.... the place is on the only diagonal road in town- it should be as easy to find as Grand Ave in Phoenix... Maybe what I need to do is wait until AFTER I arrive at the restaurant to have my margaritas, instead of having them before I set out.. Fully agree on the Cadillac...

    La Curva

La Curva Rocks! I've eaten there at least 10 times, yet I always manage to get lost on the way there... :geek: The food is always first rate, and the service is fantastic.

    reelhard report

THAT is a toad... Huge-a-normous. I know that selling meat from a large catch is (obviously) illegal, but I've also heard that some of the local restaraunt owners will cook up your catch for you in exchange for some of the take... is this true? do you guys have a list of restaraunts that...

    Sardines?

I asked a guy on the Long Beach bait barge once how they kept their sardines alive for the California sportfishing fleet, because I've had the same results with fresh bait going belly up within an hour- but If I bought a 1/2 scoop off the barges then they would last all day- He said that they...

    VHF Radio Calling in Penasco

Ok, I'm pretty new on this forum, and still have yet to dunk my boat in mexican waters, but is there a reason why not to use channel 9, which is the traditional hailing channel for VHF in coastal US waters? http://www.saltwatersportsman.com/article/Gear-and-Techniques/Use-the-Right-VHF-Channels

That is exactly the size of the two little ones I caught in Morua last October (2008) - both on a silver Kastmaster

    Early and late for Corvina?

I also have had best success on Corvina on a rising tide, and especially when the tide is rising early or late in the day- I have never fished La Pinta, but La Morua and Playa Encanto have always produced fish for me. When fishing the beaches like Encanto, I always look for channels at low...

    Fish Stories for 10/9 & 10/10/09

yeah, I would imagine you're right about that... I love catching (and eating) Dorado. Even peanuts are a blast on a 6 foot medium action spinning rod with 8 pound test... Man, I've gotta get this boat finished !!!!!

    Fish Stories for 10/9 & 10/10/09

The 10 fish limit is PER PERSON, not per boat, so a group of 4 guys on a boat could possibly keep up to 40 fish total (10 each of grouper, Snapper/Pargo, topwater fish), or each person on the boat can possess: 2 dorado and 5 (grouper/pargo,topwater) fish per day or 1 (Marlin, sailfish or...

Is it on the north end of the harbor? All I see when a I look for it on Google is "Calle 13" ... which is only a little bit helpful.

    Trouble in the Shrimping Biz

Well, It's hard to read about anything that means more lost jobs in an economy already on the skids, but I have to agree that trawl net shrimping is obsolete, and just isn't worth the impact to other species or to the bottom. Perhaps this economic downturn will finally signal the end of this...
