Surely they at least could let you know that you have, say, a cavity in the left molar.

And here we thought the border agent was being facetious about the banana. (He said with a laugh and a wave, rather than "no, really . . . ")

Thanks for the info. I didn't find that in my earlier search. And when I asked at the border, I was given a smart-a answer ("Oh, about the same dosage as in a banana") and waved on.

Totally agree. And automation replacing the human element would make total sense, since it is much more thoroughly and consistently accurate. It's just that little issue about imperiling the victims in the automated process. . . . . .

Well, without going all political, suffice it to say that It has become a “thing” as people continue to demonstrate to government that they quietly submit to infringement upon their freedoms.

I mean, the dentist dares to give a minute dosage of x-ray to a small part of jaw only once a year. And for that I’m given a lead apron to shield that small dosage from thyroid and elsewhere. Homeland Security apparently thinks that (in my case) once a month is fine to deliver a massive...

We went down on the 9th, and got the same request (open hood, present registration). Thing is, protocol changes with the wind, and what ever they need is never difficult to produce. We volunteered to help the lady lift the hood, and after a few seconds were on our way. (And the ocean water...

Yeah, every so often that happens over the years. Seems it's always a new recruit.

Thanks so much for the report. These kinds of personal accounts are valuable. I cut the political part, and forwarded it on to others who really could benefit from the info as well.

    Border Report (July 2, 2020)

I’m guessing that the gun search was merely the work of a novice inspector hoping to confiscate a firearm, and unaware that his chances of finding a southbound US citizen stupid enough to pack a gun is around zero. Years ago, when Mexico temporarily enhanced its southbound security measures...

Who was here in the beginning?

Yeah, for me it was around 2012. Back then it was like an online happy hour. Friendly banter and informative posts about current events, services and conditions.

    Roofer Flat roof

Yep. We applied Henry's expensive Silicone some years ago, after elastomeric, foam and other efforts failed, and it has worked very well.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

10 years might be the blanket range for ultimate immunity, but from the standpoint of general threat to the populous, it takes a couple years. For example, it took two years for 63% of Brazil’s populous to gain exposure to Zika virus which researchers deemed the right level for herd immunity...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Thanks, RP, for your updates. Whether the government reacts appropriately or not (disinfectant tunnels . . . . lock downs . . . ) according to varying opinions, the bottom line is that the playground is closed for awhile . . . .

Actually we both mutilated the spelling. It is "Fortaleza (strength) Del Sol." Thanks for the relocation info

Building high quality wood doors in Penasco:

Fortelaza del Sol -- They have things in stock, as well as a catalog of standard items. In fact, I've taken in a drawing of a sideboard with dimensions and asked them to make it. Beautiful job. Did it again years later for a floating shelf unit. Beautiful job.

    Satisfied Frog shutting down

As with any pandemic / epidemic, “herd immunity” prevails. The main, original purpose of the stay-at-home order was to buy time to shore up medical facilities in the inevitable spread. That having been done, you’re right – more will be exposed (as Roberto said, in the case of Penasco, areas...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Ha! Yeah – Reminds me of back during H1N1, when they had southward travelers into Penasco stop, hold out their hands, and get a squirt of hand sanitizer.

    To All...

I agree in (and enjoy) discourse that challenges and brings insight to thought and opinion on an informative and neighborly platform. Thing is -- as you point out -- there are those who launch personal and political attacks from the darndest, most innocent, simplistic, often unrelated topics...
