The Buffalo Soldiers invade Mexico 1916

We lived fairly close - North of Douglas by about 35 miles. Used to take the grandkids to that museum and we all loved it. When I was a kid the AZ National guard did their summer stint there (had been closed down) - we got to live in Gen. Crook's house on base. Had our Siamese cats with us and...

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

Thank you for posting the picture. Maybe a thread should be set up with all available pictures and article links?

Thank you - really appreciate it.

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

Does anyone have any information and/or pictures of the gun battle at the arch? Understand it involved a blue van? Thank you.

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

The guards do not carry guns. Their job is basically to monitor who comes in and out, they make sure that residents follow the HOA R&Rs, etc. - and I'm sure that the Federal authorities in this operation immediately attempted to get them into a safe, secure (or as much as possible considering...

Translated Press Release and bullet points

Rosie, Excellent summation - thank you. In the USA when the authorities go in to wipe out a nest of 'vipers' people feel more secure - at least after the fact. Wish it could have taken place in the middle of the desert rather than our beloved Penasco/Bella but it is good to know that the...

    Satisfied Frog in the Malecon

Loved the Satisfied Frog in Cave Creek. Crazy Ed might remember my Dad - Bob Gehrandt. It should do really well in Penasco - wishing them the very best and know that they next time we make it down we will be going there.

    HOME PORT (CRUISE) THREAD

May they do a wonderful job and may it bring prosperity to Penasco. If done correctly it can remain a wonderful place to be and bring jobs to those that live there. Nothing ever stays the same no matter how we wish it to - the Penasco of my 40s disappeared so many decades ago - and yet my...

    Which Condo Resort to Purchase?

Belle is my favorite - we lived there for 3 years until DH got the wanderlust again (he does that a lot). I think it is the most beautiful resort. It tends to be more family oriented then a 'party' resort or young adult spring break type. They rent out for Spring Break but usually to families...

    Turkey

Is it possible to buy a turkey in Penasco and if so where would be the best place? Super Ley? Sam's Club? Are they allowing you to bring a turkey or two down like in other years? Someone was asking and I know the rules change year to year and items available tend to change as well. Tks.

    HOA impact fee

I bet all owners (and HOAs) wish their renters were like you. Probably most are - as they say, it only takes one or two bad apples to spoil it for everyone. And I'm willing to bet that the owner of the unit you rent is delighted to have you.

    HOA impact fee

For those that don't use their units as rental income - it is hard to ask them to pick up the extra costs in their HOA dues that renters cause. There are a lot of hidden costs that people don't think about - not to mention that someone who rents usually isn't aware of the need to conserve water...

    Annual Black & White Ball

We went last year and really enjoyed ourselves - there was red carpet treatment and Bill and I had fun dancing. It is for a wonderful cause plus a chance to get all dolled up - and everyone does dress up! It should be even more special being at the new Convention Center.

    Saw a snake today

Gopher snakes are really good guys to have around - they keep the rodent population down and they also keep Rattlers away. I don't like snakes (our boys do which is why I learned a lot about snakes while they were growing up. Actually even now! We have a Black Rat snake living near our garage in...

    El Gato

Jerry, Bill said he wouldn't mind taking a look when you are ready. You can check his out on Amazon.com under Billy Ray Chitwood. He has 10 listed in both paperback and ebook/kindle. The book market has changed dramatically in the past few years.

    El Gato

Thanks Jerry, he is interesting and keeps my life exciting. To look at him, to talk to him, you would never guess that he turned 80 last April. His mind is always working on new projects. Keeps me on my toes.

    El Gato

Wish we could have met as well - although maybe we did in our younger days, as we passed on the dance floor. Hope your heath is now up to par and you are back down enjoying the beauty of Penasco and the warmth of all of your friends.

We are thinking of all of you and miss you. Hope to keep up with everything that is going on there. And we still want to be on that first cruise headed out of port.

    El Gato

He had two set in Pueblo Del Mar (aka Penasco to those in the know): Murder in Pueblo Del Mar and A Soul Defiled. Hopefully another is churning away in that brain of his :) He just published his 10th book, The Reluctant Savage - but it wasn't set in PDM/PP. He said to send you his thanks. Went...

    El Gato

We ended up selling our condo as Bill wanted to go 'home' to Tennessee. Once he turned 80 he had a strong pull towards where he was born and raised. We packed up the car and George (El Gato) and headed for the border the end of July. The Border Guard was supper nice and we didn't have to unpack...
