Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

Beginning at 8 tomorrow morning, Max’s is back to normal schedule. They opened on Monday. At about 9:30 that morning, right after I left, the Health Department (not the police) arrived and shut them down. With the State and City apparently now in agreement, Max’s reopened early this PM for...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

On a related topic restaurants have reopened for dine in service. They were opened on Monday. Yesterday morning the police were shutting them down on orders from the state. This morning the Mayor reopened them.

I agree that Americans (and Mexicans) have generally poor diets. Significantly increasing fruits and vegetables and replacing animal and hydrogenated fats with healthy plant fats such as olive oil and nuts are backed by robust nutritional studies.

I’ve met Bill Maher, been backstage at his show, but was never a guest. Food and nutrition gurus like Shanahan drive me nuts with their overreaching and unsupportable claims. The body does an outstanding job of maintaining the right pH.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I had breakfast at Max’s this morning. only one waitress was employed during the lockdown to service take out orders. The rest were unemployed for two months. If you are in town go to all of your favorite restaurants and tip generously.

Sonora is red, but is Puerto Peñasco still yellow? Will there be clarification from the mayor‘s office this weekend or will I just have to drive to Max’s in search of huevos ranchero?

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

A couple factual items to report. My wife drove back to US this morning. No questions or even any interest going thro the checkpoint. No hassle in Sonyota. Perfectly normal border crossing. She anticipates coming back to town by June 5. Might have to quarantine at home. Fine with that...

Quaternary ammonium compounds, probably hundreds of different ones in industrial use, are not what I would pick for this (Ph.D. In chemistry and hundreds of publications here). Probably won’t do worse than give you skin irritation. Hold your breath going through and take a shower as soon as...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I worked in a laboratory for 35 years and also was a firefighter for awhile. Their benign disinfectant spray is far down on my list of worries. I’ll hold my breath as I walk through.

Most likely a dilute hydrogen peroxide solution (retired scientist here). Of course, when all you are trying to do is achieve a placebo effect, water is your best choice, or scented water.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I had a similar experience at Rocky Point Imports a couple of weeks ago. When I pulled in an aggressive guy wanted to wash my clean truck. I said don’t touch it and made some very clear hand gestures and probably said no lavor or similar. When I came out he had not washed the truck but he...

That is a federal decision unfortunately.

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

I have it on pretty good authority that the city is looking into options to permit entry of residents with proof of residency as soon as June 6 IF the thermal camera is up and working by then. This would not affect tourists who do not have proof of residency. The date off June 16 still applies...

Shore fishing is legal right now.

I’m on the other side of Cholla Bay in Islas Del Mar. Very interested in getting a fishing kayak. I haven’t fished much in 30 years but grew up fishing everything from trout to marlin. I’m going back to the US in a while late June, but I’d like to connect with a kayak fisher in Cholla...

Going back across the border 5/14/2020

Do you know if locals with residence card and CFE bill can re-enter before June 16. We would gladly pay the test cost but would like to get to California and back this month if possible.

    Puerto Peñasco discussion

If possible, get a representative from the Mayor’s Office who is empowered to address concerns of foreign national property owners who would like to enter town and return to their residences.

    Puerto Peñasco discussion

Thanks. My wife sent in a request to become a member of that group. We’ve passed this onto several neighbors in Islas Del Mar who are planning to return here from Arizona at their soonest opportunity.

    Puerto Peñasco discussion

Thanks. I’ll see if my wife wants to listen in, she does Facebook. One topic that I would be interested in is whether property owners in Puerto Peñasco, who have been here during the lockdown, have any chance to return to the US to check on things there, AND return to their home in Puerto...

Looks like lock down will continue for awhile

My recollection of 1968 was that America was terribly afraid, with the assassinations of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the Vietnam War, economic problems, and civil unrest. From that pervasive stew of fear we elected Richard Nixon President. 1968 was not a good time.
