That sounds fantastic. The part about the water being clear and seeing every peak and valley. I need to get down there when the water warms up again!

You could see 30 feet. It was the first time using my fish finder on the kayak which was pretty cool because I could literally look down at what I was seeing on the screen. If the water had been murky or if it had been windy those two days I would have seen it on the fish finder but not necessarily seen it. Two different things. Trust me, it was spooky. Out there a half mile by yourself and when it got late day into dusk and I was seeing fish swimming under me and shadows and.... monsters in the closet. Seriously though... pry the weed. LMFAO

Possibly, area workable by kayak? Any chance those rocks hold roosters (probably a little early on the year for them to be so far north, but one can dream right?)?

A nice Leopard Grouper around those rocks is a big possibility, Snapper too.

Life is happening for THE KID and the pieces of the puzzle are coming together nicely. After landing a new job THE KID has his sights set on LOBOS for another go around. This time THE KID will be prepared as he has done much reading and has a new found knowledge and understanding of what it takes to land the big dawgs. THE KID is eyeing a window in the somewhat near future, possibly first or second week of March. THE KID would like as many avid and non avid fishermen alike to join in on the beer swigging fun and line dropping in LOBOS. THE KID will show no fear and there will be no barrier too big, for THE KID will prosper. THE KID ESTA SONANDO DE LOBOS!!!!

Used to park my V-Dub Bus up there and haul my longboard down to the beach with a mask, snorkel and a mesh laundry bag in hand.

I'd paddle out to those rocks and in short order have a bag full of Spiny Lobsters. I'd take em back up to the bus, whip out my Coleman stove and have a feast right there on the street.

No one ever surfed or free dived with a wetsuit in those days. Guess we need to blame it all on Global Warming since now days no one in their right mind would get in that 50 to 60 degree water without a wetsuit.

Oh and the story our great JJ told about Crescent Bay is crap...That's my old stomping grounds and only one way down to Crescent Bay and that's down some stairs in a crowded neighborhood with limited parking. The beach to the north is private but you could get to it if you climbed over the bottom of the cliffs during a very low tide. Off that point is what you see in the picture below. It's called Seal Rock (we called it shit rock). Yep, Laguna's little bird Island... To the South is Emerald bay and you had to weave through private property, even in 64, to get there as well. Above the point is where the picture below was taken and a climb down was usually only tried by and with very limited success, drunks! All boards were long boards in 64, though some life guards used true long boards in the 50's. Mine was a 9'6" Hobie, and it would be worth a mint today.
