BOAT REPAIR MAJOR ?

I have seen a old Sea Ray in town that is just sitting by a home. I looked at it and the glass looks fine but no engine. The way it is sitting and as long as it has been there I am wondering about the wood part of the frame.
I think it would have to have the floor removed and set aside. Then I think all of the internal wood would have to be replaced, new foam and I was wondering if there is some one down here that would do this. It would require major fiberglass work. The boat is totaly empty, no consul, no stearing and no eng controlls or engine.
Boat is almost free. It also has no trailer.

I am no expert on the matter but, my brother in law attempted a similar project years ago that ended up costing 5k in materials alone and was never completed. I had a 25 foot boat sitting in my back yard for 2 years that ended up in a scrap yard.
You might be lucky though considering how dry things stay down there. I would look at it long and hard before jumping.
Here in Mesa you can get boats that are water worthy with no trailer for less than the materials might run for the project.

Agree completely.

Figure out how much money you would be able to spend on such a venture then shop for a boat in that price range. Shop hard and buy it right. Buy it in the US also.
I bought an old ChrisCraft wooden speedboat 30years ago for a grand from a guy that bought it ten years before from another guy who was going to get it on the water again ( nothing like the sound of that motor).... Anyways saw it on a corner for sale again last week....50 years of being someone's lttle Dream....exactly the same...price 1000 dollars

I have a boat, straight 6/outdrive/14' tri-hull. Ran perfect last time out, been sitting for 15+ years. You can have it! Use the drivetrain for the Sea Ray! Has a trailer too!

Woodspinner? No. Fuggidaboudit. The best use for that old Sea Ray would be as a reef at this point in its life.

Whatever happened to the old Bayrunner that's been sitting forever you were looking at awhile back?

My ProKat is still on the market. Not that I've actively been advertising it or anything. I have it at home right now doing some maintenance and such on it as time permits, will probably tow it back down this spring.
