I'm looking to go out today and have my own internet service provider installed. I'm located in Bella Serina. What knows of a reliable internet service provider.

Thanks

Only 3 options...
Telmex DSL or unlocked 3g mifi hotspot with a Telcel sim card and prepaid Amigo account
Megacable
or
Exede Satellite

Since your in a condo you options may be limited to whatever provider has cabled Bella Sirena. Most likely Telmex.

Any idea what it would cost to have the prepaid amigo account. I am down every six weeks and really enjoy having a hotspot to check emails. DSL would be too expensive for the use I would get out of it.

I use the Telcel Amigo on an unlocked AT & T MIFI with the Sim card. Takes a little bit to set it up but after that smooth.
I go down three to four times a year and when I recharge, I usually go for the 30 day 3 Gig option available on the internet.

You do need to refresh it every 60 days for about 3.00 just to keep it activated. If you use it every six weeks, you shouldn't have a problem.
Hope that helps.

I was hoping you'd jump in GV with the details. I just unlocked an ATT mifi the other day and will be trying it out tomorrow when I head down.

Estero, when you get the thing plugged in you will find you won't have access to the net right off. You should get an AT & T Landing page to come up.

You will need to find the Profile List and click on secure. and then click on the Edit WIFI profile button. You will need to make the following changes.

Name: MX - Telcel Web
APN: internet.itelcel.com
Username: webgprs
Password: webgprs2002
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
Authentication Type: PAP
APN Type: default, supl

There are other areas on that list but they don't matter.

I hope this helps. If you run into a problem, PM me and I'll give you my phone number and I'll try to talk you through it.

I used to use the Telcel 3G USB dongle until I switched to Telmex DSL.

If your interested, I no longer need the dongle, I'll sell you the dongle for $40. All you need then is to get a Telcel SIM Card and add pesos to the account.

The dongle will automatically load Telcel's program on your computer and gives you links to recharge the account online.

Let me if your interested

Our new roof top radio type antenna systems are just great at santo Tomas.Fast enough to watch Amazon Prime movies and you can park it for the months you are not there for ten bucks.Way faster than telcel Internet..... it allows people to work from there....

The Dongle does work well, but if you have a need to work multi- users, the Hot Spot MIFI is the tool.

The Telcel dongle works great if your just an occasional visitor and needs a cheap Internet connection. I used to just buy the 5 day package... If I remember correctly I think is was $10-$12.

Is there any problem with using and unlocked Hot Spot with Telcel? I mean will Telcel have a problem with me using it. Can they be purchased directly from Telcel?

I have the AT & T MIFI and use the Telcel chip with no problem. I guess as long as you pay, they play.

They do have them available, but they are not unlocked and can only be used on the Telcel network. See below.

I asked at the main office in RP and they didn't know about them. You may want to buy on line.

I suspect that when you plug in the Amigo Chip it should hook right up.
