Sad and tragic. They neglected to mention that all day long the energy drink (red bull) was mixed with vodka. The girl was given permission to come to Rocky Point with a family the parents didn't even know (Lanna's dad wasn't told she was coming here). The family who brought her down seemed comfortable with a 16 yr old drinking...that is until it was mentioned they might've had some culpability. Mom is asking for money to help with expenses. Dad is a nice man who is truly focused on the loss of his daughter. He gets it. How can a kid survive the mistake-making teen years if the adults aren't on alert? Just because they look grown...doesn't mean they are.

Man that's tough, life lessons learned the hard way. Glad they didn't have energy drinks when I was her age.

Rosy regarding the financial obligation this girls parents are facing, and I've seen it happen before, does your company have any policy that can be purchased to help avoid, or at least lesson it?

I had my suspicions about what she had been drinking. The news reports said she was drinking energy drinks all day.
Not that every under age kid drinks alcohol when they are there, but that is usually the trend. Has been for countless years.
How did they find out she was drinking Vodka/Redbull?

We're the parents supplying alcohol to the minor? If so, they could face a lawsuit in the states if the parents of the deceased minor pursue litigation.

It was all over facebook and not a word about it being red bull mixed with vodka. So sad.
Why does a 16 year old healthy athlete need an "energy" drink. I'm 70 years old, play tennis, go to the gym 5 days a week and I do not need an energy drink. What a waste of this young life.

TICO-T it was the alcohol mixed in it that did it. Maybe she never drank before and drinking all day like Rosy said, and no water during the day and she was dehydrated and the sun and all.....

Well, there are always the prepaid funeral policies, although they aren't very popular. On the news the mom said they'd spent upwards of $13k. I know she got the remains back to Peoria after spending $2,320, so the difference must be what she paid in the States. I had no idea burial costs were so high.

Rosy, I was reading about a repatriation insurance plan. Are you familiar with and is it something to consider if spending a lot of time in Mexico?
