I went to Algodones today with my bestie. It is near Yuma, where she lives, across from Andrade California. I spent a few days in Yuma with her. Algodones sure is a horse of a different color! There were a gazillion snowbirds standing six deep in the pharmacies and liquor stores. They were everywhere, buying picture frames, drugs and dentures! The streets were just full and there was a live band playing in a restaurant at 9:30 in the morning! It was like a zoo, way different than PP! I was just standing there gawking at all of them and said to Claudia, "look at all them old people." She turned and looked at me and said, "Char, they are us." I called her a popular variation of witch! LOLOL! Then, I found out at the border crossing back in to California that it is a federal offense to smoke a cigarette in your own car while the agent is talking to you! Huh????? I've crossed at Lukeville 900 times and never heard that before. She was very surly and kept us 10 minutes, asking questions that she knew the answer to already and looking thru the car. She even asked me why I was in Algodones and not Rocky Point! Huh?????? I mean, 2 middle aged women in a 17 year old Buick Park Avenue are soooooooo dangerous! LOLOL! I will go back when I have longer time to spend because it is cool and fascinating and the people are just lovely but I hope we get a different agent on the way back. She sucked all of the cool out of our trip and we were bummed all the way back to Yuma........

Ahh! Visions of what RP will be like on the days the cruise ships will be in port. I just hope they never bring the 4000 passenger
ships into the port when it gets finished (or not!!)

I used to live in Yuma and we would go there a few times a month. My parents owed a little car diesel fuel engine.
My dad would go over there to fill up 'cuz it was like 25-30 cents per gallon (this was like 1981)
Anyhow, we would get fresh tortillas and Dad would get his smokes. That is my only memory of that place.
Looking at some Google earth pictures, I have seen really long lines at the boarder.
As to your federal offense Chari, I did that once on accident walking back across in Nogalas.(a little drunk I might add) I forgot to finish a cigar I was smoking and walked right in with it. Thought I was gonna get shot.

do they let you put up Tiki torches on the beach?
I have always wanted to go out there at night and light up a few and have a little party. I'm usually at one of the Sonoran resorts.
