We attended his first Town Meeting and it was well worth it. If you haven't met Mr. Cummins yet you should. He is pro Penasco and Sonora.

He is pro in international travel too. He has a world view that so many lack he is a great guy to get to know. your comment is right on!

If you can't attend the town hall meeting, do listen to Rocky Point Ramblings on Saturday, June 2nd. He'll be on the show that day and, just as he did last time he was with us, will answer questions posted on Facebook or made via call to the studio during the show. As Russ said, he's a great guy and very accessible.

Rosie - I tried to listen this past Saturday morning. Love to listen to the station and you and Russ while cleaning my house and it was offline. Is it fixed?

Hmm...we had others checking in on Facebook who were listening to us. Do you go to the link through the Facebook page? I don't really know about this stuff. Russ? Any idea what's going on?

I couldn't find it the last 2 weekends either. I liked it when Russ would post the link on FB right before the show started....
At least I'll be in toen this weekend and will be sure to hear it!

I just checked the Ramblings FB page, and at the top right corner, there is a link for "Live Radio Show"....when I click on it, it goes to SOL, the radio station....with whatever programming is playing right now. BTW, the page is coming up in the "Timeline" format.....still haven't figured that out!

i will give 10 bucks to someone that asks him if he could press the Governor of Sonora to keep his promise to begin paving the Sasabe to Altar road in 2012. This road would allow Tucson residents (you know the smart Arizonans) to get to the beach via the new Coastal Highway in 3 hours and increase the natural bond between Caborca and Tucson.

I hate that Timeline. I don't want to change to it!

I couldn't listen to Rocky Point Ramblings on the music player this Saturday either, though apparently it worked for others. Not sure why that would happen...

Is the Facebook page specifically for Rocky Point Ramblings? I need to "friend" it!
Facebook, then search Rocky Point Ramblings, like Joe says. Yesterday we did the show on live remote from the Business Expo and it went so well that the General Manager of Radiorama decided to extend the show an extra half hour. Of course that last half hour I was more concerned that the Expo would run out of food by the time we got done!

Next week we interview Chad Cummins, U.S. Consul General from Nogales, Sonora. He'll be taking questions, so do check in.

I enjoyed listening to your show yesterday Rosie- wish we could have been there, but the beach was calling. Hope Russ got dunked a lot.

I have a question for the Consolate: I heard if you get an FM3 for 5 years, then your FM2 for 5 years, you can qualify to get a deed to your house- not just a Fideicomiso. I heard you cannot vote, but you have the same rights as a Mexican National (deed, health care, etc). I would like an authority to confirm if that is true (not just the Penasco rumor mill!)

Unfortunately, the dunk tank didn't make it to the event. I'm very thankful to the Old Boys Social Club in Cholla Bay for lending it to us and they'll get it back in better condition than ever, but the repairs weren't completed in time. It was disappointing, but Russ was a heluva good sport for agreeing to do it.

The questions you want answered aren't questions that the Consulate would be involved with. Those are questions for Mexican migration officials, although we can help you get those answers. The information you quote is a little off. People now have the option of going straight to FM2 without doing the FM3 for 5 years. The cost of the FM2 is higher, and there's a first-time fee when you first switch over from the FM3. After the FM2, you can go for Immigrado status. This means you're legally Immigrated. As far as I know, this doesn't eliminate the need for a bank trust (fideicomiso), nor does it give you citizen status. I'm sure the only way to be done with bank trusts is to become a Mexican citizen.

By the way, anybody can buy into the Mexican healthcare system (IMSS). Alejandro Moreno who works for me and is completely bilingual has helped several people through the process. It's an affordable option for people who are at an age where health insurance is too expensive to make sense (like the age I'm at). The cost for the health care is not much at all...less than $400usd per year. If you want more info, email me at [email protected] and I'll forward it to Alex.

The Consul General can answer questions about services offered to American Citizens by the U.S. government while living or traveling in foreign countries. Emergency situations, contacting loved ones and passport services come to mind. They don't get people out of jail, as some people tend to think. They do provide a list of available attorneys.

I hope this helps!

Do I get the $10 just for asking the question? If so, get your wallet out, Jerry!
