Easter Weekend

We were down on Saturday and Sunday- perfect weather. Based on traffic, and talking to store owners, the town was extremely busy. We tried driving from Fremont to the Malecon and it was completely backed up on Benito Juarez to the Circle K. We didn't try to join the mayhem, but everyone seemed to be having a great time. It was good to see the town busy again.

Lovin it in RP!
It took me 25 minutes to get to the studio on Saturday (its a 7 minute drive) lots of people, lots of business, overall should be good. We lost a few this weekend which is always sad. Crowds do what crowds do! Naomi and I stayed home as much as we could to stay out of the fray!

We heard sirens headed out Choya direction a few times this weekend. Yesterday their appeared to be an accident at the intersection of Choya Rd and The Reef turnoff - that seems to be a really bad intersection as people don't tend to stop.

Couldn't ask for lovelier weather. Beach was busy with people having a great time. Those renting out ATVs, Rhinos, water toys, etc., had to have been happy with the weekend.

Can't say about town as we stayed home and out of traffic, but friends said it was really busy with people enjoying themselves.

From a local news source it has been confirmed as of yesterday that 6 died in unrelated car accidents and 9 others as a result of ATV or other desert related accidents, it is tragic but it happens every year.
Terrible. Couldn't believe that photo of Competition Hill at night, all those headlights. Mix that with cases of Tacate... Truly a death-wish.

Naomi and I refused to go out even to take pics it was just unreal! However we did enjoy playa hermosa yesterday and nobody was there.

On the radio, this morning Mayor Alejandro Zepeda announced there were no deaths in Penasco, Semana Santa. Also Numerounoonline.com wrote there were zero deaths in Penasco. El Imparcial reported 18 deaths for Semana Santa in the rest of the state of Sonora.

You are correct I misread the article that was in the State of Sonora. I just chatted with a reporter who sums it up that Thank God no one was killed here.

That is very good news :p
Eventhough there are always accidents when there are that many people running around, I would have though that kinda of number would have triggerd of some sort of negative press here.

Sorry Russ but it cracks me up how you were ready to just shrug off 6 deaths and 18 injured as just the price of fun on Easter in Rocky Point! That would have been a slaughter worthy of a video game.Reminds me of the Town leaders in Jaws saying no shark attacks here.

Thanks Jerry I appreciate your concern.

With 50 thousand plus people extra in town it would not have surprised me thats all. It was busier than I have seen it in decades there was no way to get to Cholla Bay without running a gauntlet of video game type driving. Glad I was able to crack you up but this whole thing is very upsetting to me and my wife and no I dont take it lightly

I was down this weekend with two of my teen kids. We had a blast, loved all the activity. Walked down to the fish market Saturday night, lots of people and street bands.

I wish every weekend could be that busy.

Man, Mexicans love to cruise in thier cars with friends and drink beer; me too.

All ages and no problems that we saw.

If it was that busy every weekend I would never come down. I like to see it busy just not when I am here.
