Mall & Old Port Roads & Super Ley

Today, Monday 1/20/2012, drove by the Mall and there were construction trucks and workmen busy - more then I've ever seen in the past 1 1/2 years.

Road coming out of the port hasn't been completed yet, but looks fairly close to completion. Took the road the runs north of the church and followed it around and had no problems getting out. Very easy. Not a lot of people when we first arrived but by the time we were leaving a lot more had arrived. Of course the weather was perfect for strolling around.

Stopped by Super Ley and they are very busy reorganizing the store. Also had some different items, grated cheese for one and Campbell's chicken &n rice and onion soup. Several different types of Orowheat bread. Cat food was only 6.5 pesos - previously was 7.5 pesos. Was in a hurry so didn't pay too much attention to other items. Did notice bottles and can goods didn't have the dust on them that I had gotten used to. Fruit and veggies looked great.

From what I've heard they have been loosing business to their other store "Ley Express"... funny that they now need to compete with themselves for business...

Ley Express in Downtown Caborca is a real good store too...kills the others...even has a cheese counterman cutting what you want...a bit more money than the big box but a better shopping experience.

So what you're saying is they have a guy in Ley Express that does nothing but "Cut The Cheese"..?

I could do that job! I have been doing it for free all these years and never thought I could get paid for it. Wait till my wife finds out that is's a marketable talent.

I was ay the Old Port yesterday and the roads in and out were not bad at all. In the regular way and out at the old church.

Super Lay this morning was much better than my last visit last year. Clean and fresh looking produce. Was there at 9:30
and it was like having my own store. Maybe it was the Bloody Mary at Max's.

Hey Roberto, made the whole trip and didn't get arrested, YET.

The key thing that seems to have been missed in this thread and in answer to one of the questions posed is that the movie theater is in full swing toward completion in May or so. With that done, hopefully we'll see work continue on the rest of the project to include McDonalds, Sears and other retail outlets. Great moves forward with so many others underway!!

On the shortcut road to Las Conchas from the edge of town (i don't know the name of the street - goes from first light at the north end of town down to Freemont and the Pemex station) - down about 1.5 miles or so.

It is named Blvd. Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez... or more commonly just called Josefa by the locals...
