Passport cards for children

I just went to the travel.gov website to download the forms to get a passport card for Jerry's son and read that children under 16 can enter from contigous countries with only a birth certificate. At least I think that's what it said..... Can someone with children confirm that for me? Thanks!

you are correct, only a birth certificate is required for those 15 and younger

if you get them a full blown Passport at under 16, do you need to renew when then turn 16 like the passport card?

passport book for those under 16 last 5 years instead of 10 (16 and older)

We were just down this past weekend with young kids. We always use their birth certificates and cruise through just fine.
