I was there yesterday and it does look like there is work being done they were pouring concrete. I don't mind driving up the 1 way road the wrong way (not like alot of people haven't already done that) I will still ride in next week on the scooter.

Lovin it in RP!
I agree Rob, it is not difficult to get to the Malecon they have the path pretty clear all the way down. Its good to see the work getting done!

There is a lot of activity on the repaving work. The street that has been blocked off into the malecon is flat and was treated with something yesterday. The upper streets are rapidly having the broken pavement hauled away and there are piles of basecoarse on many streets that have been cleaned of rubble. Trucks haul in and haul out. Several front end loaders and graders are at work. They are working in the evening way past sunset.

Good to hear! Was worried about about the Rally regulars seeing those pics and having second doubts about coming down.

Joe it is to late and it isn't going to be finished not even by spring break but I wouldn't call it half assed. wait until they are done then you can start bashing the work..

When we went to Cervantino in the Malecon, as we were walking along the street, both my husband and I felt like we were in Playa de Carmen- a beautiful Mexican town south of Cancun. I think once everything is done, it will be nice, but I'm sorry they had to tear up the streets in the middle of tourist season. I wish they would have done the work over the summer.

I take that back Rob, not half assed. I meant the planning was half assed. I think they have done a wonderful job with the Malecon in general. The new sidewalks, facing, palm trees and benches it looks wonderful. I have no doubt the finished product will look good however the planning of this was half assed. Per usual, come on bud you know three guys working on this during this biker weekend when you're supposed to be CATERING TO BIKES and we're not talking MOTOCROSS HERE lololol and you are tearing up the streets????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Really?! Just saying... I apologize, I should have reworded what I said. The final project will look great and it will greatly improve RP's marketability however at the cost of crucial business in a VERY slow time!

You are 100% correct would have been nice to see it done during the summer but that was a blooper in planning. It has been torn up for 2 years now. Better planning would have been to only work on a section at a time not tear up every street in old port. I love what they have done so far lets just hope it gets finished before the next election and they loose all the funding.
