The REEF RV Park

Going to spend Thanksgiving there this year. What's your experience with this place?

Never stayed there in an RV, but visited several times. When I used to stay at Playa Bonita (RV Park), the Reef was a bit "looser"....not as many "restrictions"/rules...such as on use of atv's, etc. You were also next door to the Reef Bar...which used to get pretty rowdy on some holidays..... Now it's Wrecked at the Reef Bar..a little more upscale!

I have some friends who shifted from staying at Playa Bonita to the Reef when they had their yearly family gatherings...easier to get reservations on holiday periods. They didn't have any complaints.

I think the beach is better at Playa Bonita when the tide goes out....you do have rocks out in front of the Reef RV.

The reef is pretty far from the tourist areas. You might check out the Mirador area, Playa de Oro. Several people on the forum stay there frequently.

Loud Loud and did we say Loud
Is that because of the nights when they have cheap drink specials at Wrecked at the Reef bar and the younger locals come down to hear dance music? I've seen photos of back when it first opened and they had speakers (and/or DJs) right there on the beach, but wasn't sure if it was as popular these days.

We stayed there several times. The pros are that you can get good spaces like beachfront or on the ends of the rows because it's less crowded. We stored our trailer there for a couple of years after Playa Elegante closed. It was inexpensive and very secure. You can store there without having to stay there. The prices are fair. The cons are that you have to pay in full just to make a reservation and they have all kinds of rules about cancellation. The people in the office are not as friendly as the other parks and we never could pick up a wifi signal. They kept telling us the repair man was coming "tomorrow" every time we stayed there. It's pretty quiet on the weekdays which some may love, but I enjoy a crowded park where you meet lots of people and enjoy loud, fun happy hours. It was pretty dead there most of the time.

Earlier this year we spent 2 weeks there but as others have said it is a bit out of town. I didn't consider it noisy and ate at the Wrecked at the reef as well as the new 2 storey resterants. Italian and mexican sit down. Both were very nice and I thoght the food was excellant. With that said in 2012 we are staying at Playa De Oro RV Park downtown to try something new.
