Thunder update

Lovin it in RP!
This brings a chuckle to me....remember all the questions I kept asking about fuel???....and the responses that I got that fuel would be available from a distributor? I got the same info when I spoke to Bob Livingston...that he had a distributor lined up to bring in fuel! I can understand that there would be a problem with determining how much fuel to bring in...depending on the type of vehicles, and how many actually entered!

Now the letter is indicating that the racers would be permitted to bring in 55 gallons per race vehicle. I really hope that happens...but as always with the Mexican customs people, I am skeptical. I'll believe it when I see it!!!
Dude you have got to relax. The beautiful thing that the drivers get to bring their own fuel is awesome. If that didnt come into play he had plan B and plan C ready to go but they were mush more expensive options so he worked very hard with officials and they came to an agreement. Never give up and always be thankful for favors large and small.

Saw this on the San Carlos Forum:
VEHICLE IMPORTATION UPDATES, from Adolfo Salido, Sonora Tourism, 09/09/2011

IF YOU ARE DRIVING A MOTORHOME AND TOWING A SMALL CAR OR PICK UP WITH IT, THIS IS THE WAY IT WORKS:

• THE MOTORHOME GETS AN ALL MEXICO PERMIT FOR TEN YEARS WITH A COST OF $49.95 USD. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY ANY ADDITIONAL DEPOSIT WITH IT.

• THE VEHICLE BEING TOWED -- AS LONG IT STAYS IN THE ONLY SONORA AREA -- DOES NOT NEED A PERMIT TO COME INTO MEXICO, UNLESS IT GOES BEYOND KILOMETER 98 SOUTH OF EMPALME.

• THE SAME THING HAPPENS WITH A HOUSETRAILER THAT IS BEING TOWED (HITCH OR FIFTH WHEEL SYSTEM ). THE HOUSETRAILER GETS AN ALL MEXICO TEN-YEAR PERMIT for $49.95, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL DEPOSIT, AND THE TOWING VEHICLE DOES NOT NEED A PERMIT UNLESS IT GOES BEYOND KILOMETER 98 SOUTH OF EMPALME.

WHEN YOU BRING MOTORCYCLES, JET SKI, OR A SMALL TRAILER FOR CARRYING THINGS, YOU WILL HAVE TO GET A PERMIT, UP TO SIX MONTHS, FOR BOTH THE TOWED ITEM(S) AND THE TOWING VEHICLE.

VERY UNOFFICIALLY LET ME COMMENT:
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT SOME PEOPLE 'FORGET' THAT THE MOTORCYCLES, JET SKIS, AND TRAILER FOR LOADING STUFF WERE ALLOWED TO BE TAKEN INTO MEXICO AND THEN LEAVE THEM IN MEXICO AND LET OTHER PEOPLE BUY, USE, OR KEEP THEM. TIS IS NOT PERMISSABLE!

Russ...this has nothing to do with "relaxing".....it has to do with BS thrown around by "promoters"......and not follwing thru with promises.....and I'm not talking about Bob Livingston.....unless this event falls flat on it's face!!!

I've been trying to convince old jetski racing friends of mine to come down to Penasco to start racing AGAIN....there were races several years ago for 2-3 years. As I've stated MANY times on here...a HUGE issue was fuel....either trying to bring it across or it's availability in Penasco (no 109+ octane in town). So, forgive me if I keep harping on the same subject....if this event comes off successfully, with no fuel hassles at the border....GREAT! If not....we're back to the same BS!!! So please stop poo-pooing my concerns! All it will take is one driver getting hassled and not being able to bring fuel in....and you will have a pile of posts on forums which will kill future races.

BTW...I really do hope it comes off successfully!

As far as I know the Sprint cars teams in AZ are not concerned about it Joe, and never have been. You must have noticed that on the ABC forum for the most part it was all just ignored, though it was looked at, and a few wished Bob good luck... The weekend after this, there is one of the biggest races of the year, a two day show http://www.canyonspeedwaypark.com/?p=663 for both the winged and non winged cars at Canyon, and their not going to be flying off into the great unknown the weekend before. Also this weekend Robbie Allen and the teams that have been running open com will be here http://www.abcmotorsports.com/wwocpressreleae9-7-11.htm and so will I... I suggest to anyone who was looking forward to a Sprint Car race to head out there as well.
If I was down there the best I would hope for was some kind of exhibition type deal as far as the Sprints go. That is if there's even a surface to run on..??? Bob may have been able to talk $$ to a few teams, and talked them into coming down, but I've not been able to confirm that the post on here about the 97 car was even authentic, and I'd guess that the reason that Russ has not posted any news about who's going to show, is because he has none!
Terry you've had years of experience with the sprint car community, so you must know that with the way this economy is and with the $$ that it takes to field a sprinter, and with our car counts down, the timing of this deal couldn't have been worse even if Bob tried!
Truth is their is a lot of flag waving about helping out our new track, and how are own bad economy and racing community needs our support here, and not in Mexico... You can hardly blame them.

Stop that red highlighting crap Joe, you're not on the east coast!! We can hear just fine!!

Russ is just a guy trying to promote Peñasco. That said I have gone in deep with this event because I believe in it. Kenny it may not be a purist event in the eyes of Sprinters (or whatever they call themselves) but it will be a show! We have had cars on the track already (yes Joe they brought their own fuel in) and they love the track. So the local fans from Tijuana to Caborca , Sonoyta to Mexicali will get a great show, the likes they have never seen. For all the poo pooers out there I say "whatever" sit on your couch (behind your keyboard of course) and do nothing while the world moves around you. This is going to be a big event. If I was a driver or a team owner and I wanted to do good business in a bad economy I would be here with all 4 on the ground. We have excellent support cash wise and donation wise ! Joe..... you want to do a motor event here? Contact me I will hook you up!

With the "show" just day's away, not posting anything at all on this forum for a week except a letter from Bob, and some banter with Joe, is not exactly my idea of promoting Russ.
What kind of cars were on the track, and why haven't you posted any pictures? How many of the eighty cars that you guy's have said would be there have committed to come, and what divisions? I guess it's perfectly acceptable to just make things up. First it's winged sprinters on your posters, then non wing, and now it's "or whatever they call themselves".

As far as sitting on my couch Russ old boy, this is my itinerary for this month and part the next.
15th http://www.abcmotorsports.com/wwocpressreleae9-7-11.htm

21st-22nd http://www.canyonspeedwaypark.com/?p=663

28th-29th http://www.canyonspeedwaypark.com/?p=658

Nov 3, 4, 5th The Budweiser Oval Nationals, America's most prestigious traditional Sprint Car race http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/2011/pr111011.html

Nov 17, 18, 19th.. Brady Bacon and Donny Schatz topped more than 120 drivers in 2010 as they became Champions of the Western World’s 43rd edition http://www.usaraceway.net/2011/10/04/mike-spencer-among-early-entries-for-western-world/ with more than $100,000 in “A” Feature money alone distributed over the course of the blockbuster event. A $15,000 share awaits the winner of the Lucas Oil ASCS Western World Champion, while the ASCS Canyon Region conqueror will pocket $5,000.

If I said anything in my post that's not true, just step right up and tell me what it was, and if I was wrong, you'll get my apology. Your lack of any solid information comes across loud and clear.

And Russ...like I said...I hope that it works outs....but only time and this weekend will tell.....I'll be down this weekend and will be checking things out>

I don't want to rain on any parades but I was on the track on Sat. Being all I ever ran were full bodied cars (IMCA modifieds, Latemodels) if this race does happen I don't believe fuel will be the problem it is going to be tires this is not a clay track. The other issue is the track hasn't been compacted there will be very large holes that will appear during the race. I hope this works but driving a pick up around the track does not make it a race car or a race track.

Lololol Now why on earth would you want to cater to the public by putting in seating?! I mean jeeze they're only the ones paying to see this event and supporting the race! Yea.... seating shmeeting who needs it?! Lets just make the paying public sit in the dirt. Lol #whatajoke

"trackies"??
Good deal, and just what is your car # and where do you run it regularly or have run it, and with what sanctioning body? Is a restricted 410 or a 360?... And if it wouldn't be to much to ask on top of all that, who's going to wheel it?
Maybe you could even name another (not that you've named yours LOL) team and driver that are coming down, in not only the sprints, but any division.

Remember this is the same jones who said, "I was sitting on the beach near the Reef today and a huge Carnival Cruise Ship went past about 3 miles out to sea. It was heading north".:clown:

And that's exactly why Russ is between a rock and a hard place, and has been for some time. Look, if I thought there was going to be a "show" with even half the cars mentioned in the poster and on their advertisement I'd be heading out tomorrow morning to catch it, and then haul back to Apache Junction Saturday to support our guy's at home too.

Edit..Whoops, I forgot it starts Saturday, and not a Friday Saturday show, but two day shows. Be sure to sit down wind Joe.
