I'm sure this has been discussed, I tried to search 'insurance' but came up with a million topics.

What's the cheapest/best place to get mexico insurance? I normally go through AAA but as my toys have increased the price is getting a bit out of control. Which is fine if that company has good prices but I've never shopped it so not sure if they do have good prices or not.

Any suggestions?

Beware of bad advice, folks. Allstate and several other U.S. carriers do cover damage to your own vehicle while you're in Mexico, but they don't meet the requirement under Mexican law that you carry Mexican Liability insurance. Too many people come down here thinking they're covered and then cry rivers when they get in an accident and are detained, cars impounded, etc. Even if the accident is not your fault, you must prove that you carry the insurance that is required...and Allstate doesn't cut it.

I have a serious question for those of you who would rather buy at Costco than from my company, ProAlliance. Do you think it's that much cheaper? Have you even checked whether our prices are comparable? I pay taxes here in the community and have employees. I try to contribute to the community as much as possible. If you have an accident here, I am personally available 24/7 and come out personally to run interference...will Costco do that?

Many of the members here are clients of mine, and I appreciate ever one of them.

I go to Alejandro Portugal and find his service to be excellent. Buy on line and papers ready when you get there. No mater where you buy consider yearly. It does not take many trips to start to save money. Yearly is quite low compared to the daily rate.

You're right Rosie...... Think of it as the "BUY LOCAL, SUPPORT LOCAL"....there's a similar "group" here in the Phoenix/AZ area.
The PERSONAL ATTENTION is worth any small difference in price :)

So Rosy, if I click on that link at the bottom of your last message I can apply right away and pay on line?

Do you cover a vehicle hauling wood outdoor furniture into Mexico? Do you need a seperate policy for a trailer?

I didn't mean to offend you Rosie. I have searched and bought from several other companies and never seen Proalliance. I will check it out next time.

With Costco's insurance you can pay online and print out your insurance info.

We went with Rosy and, fortunately, haven't needed to use our insurance and want to keep it that way. :) Have had an insurance agency of our own (mostly Annuities, Long Term Care, etc) in Arizona for years and we have a lot of clients that will tell you that having a good, caring agent is well worth it. Someone that is there for you 24/7. And Rosy is.

Before moving down checked our car insurance as it said it had coverage in Mexico - agent said that what it covered wasn't what you needed under Mexican law and not to rely on it. So we now have US and Mexican insurance. Mexican is much cheaper! Wish we could buy the US by the day - boy, would we save a lot of money.

With Costco's insurance you can pay online and print out you insurance info also.

The cheapest quote from your site was $65. I paid $41 from Costco. You coming out at the time of the accident is a nice piece of mind.

That's why I always buy from Rosie now. The few extra dollars that it may cost is priceless to me knowing in the back of my mind that if something were to happen, I wouldn't be alone down there and just a policy number to some huge company. I've never met Rosie personally, but if I had a problem I've always felt that I could call and she could tell me who or where to go to for help, etc. That to me is worth it.

Yep, follow the link to get several quotes, choose the one you like best, pay online and print your policy. The minute you purchase it, I get a copy in my email. That way, if you have a problem even before you get to Penasco, I already have a copy of your policy on hand and know what you're talking about when you call. And yes, the trailer is covered, but when you buy the policy it will ask if you're towing anything. Say yes, and then it'll be covered.

We sell annual "Driver's License Policies" that give you Liability coverage regardless what you're driving. Those always cover what you're towing as well.

Oh, I'm not offended. Actually I appreciate the opportunity to find out what we can do to earn more business. As I said in my reply to Roberto, you can purchase online with us as well. A lot of our clients prefer to call the office and let Paty handle it for them, but it's just a matter of preference. Portugal is another local option, of course. He had the market pretty well sewn up when I opened ProAlliance 5 years ago, so I knew I'd have to build a reputation of excellent customer service.

Sorry, don't know if I was clear enough. You don't need a separate policy for the trailer.

WOW, I just call my auto agent and let him know and I get my papers on a fax or PDF to me.
Not to hard to get to Mexico.:cluck:
