Crossing with a Motorcycle in August

This is a silly question perhaps.

I'm thinking of riding my motorcycle down to RP this weekend. Upon my return on Sunday, if there is a long line at the border to get back into the US, say more than 20 minutes, is it socially acceptable to jump to the front of the line?

In the winter, I would not ask, but in the summer heat, and with no air conditioning, it is really uncomfortable. (but riding in the heat is not).

silly is the question that never gets asked, your is just another question, all I can say is that I have seen many bikes jumping to the front of the line, then again it was the Rally biker week, all you need to do is ask politly and I am sure that others waiting will understand your predicament of hating to ride but you just need to do it!!!

If you cross at other boarder crossings there is a special inlet that puts you at the front of the line. I would. Being on a bike you won't even know if they get upset. You will miss out on the chicklets though.

I would wait my turn....Doesn't make a difference if you have a car or a motorcycle in my book.....

I would ride straight to the front waving as I go by only because some people will be waving to you. .. Seriously I would slowly proceed towards the front watching for opening doors and kids running around. It is no diffrent than what is done in California with the spliting lanes. Completely legal.

Thanks for the feedback. I crossed the border a couple years ago at San Luis (south of Yuma) on my motorcycle. The line to cross must have been 3 hours long. I parked at the back of the line, and everyone in the cars around me told me to ride up to the front and cut in. Because I was on a motorcycle and did not have A/C, I did not need to sit in the line. I felt a little uneasy doing what they suggested but they insisted. It really did save my hide that day. My concern is the same at Lukeville this weekend. If the line is 20-30 minutes, I would suffer it out, but if the line is 1 hour or more long, I would really need to do something to keep moving. Riding a bike in heat is comfortable. Sitting on a bike in heat is unbearable. I just want to make sure I won't get pelted with bad karma if I make a move to the front of the line.

Pass by. It is also a safety concern. I for one would tell you to go to the front.

look and just say have a good ride. Yes I will motion or ask to take cuts.

Watch out for a crazy women in a RED JEEP with 33 inch tires, she will be steaming, probably chase you down and run you over.

Sorry if I go against the majority of the posters here....most on here know me to not be "politically correct", etc.....but riding your motorcycle is a matter of choice....how about all those people who do sit in a 3 hr line....and can't run their air conditioning because they'll overheat or run "open" vehicles? Should I also let them cut in front of the line? Go find a nice taco stand, have some food, and a cerveza, and wait until the line gets short....or pick a time to cross when the line is not that long. Do what many do....leave town real early so you hit the border before 9am.....or wait until early evening! If you leave with all of the "check out time" crowds...that was YOUR decision, and not my problem!

BTW....I don't think you have any worries about a 3 hr. or even a 1 hr. line nowadays....unless you happen to pick one of the major holidays!!

Thanks everyone for your fantastic comments. As it turned out, it was a moot point. With no cars in front of me, I pulled in directly to the border agent and was stopped for literally less than 90 seconds. I will keep your comments in mind the next time I ride down there and experience a longer line.

Sorry....but a motorcyclist made the choice to ride....what makes him/her "special"?????.... How about that family with several kids....sitting there for 3 hours...."are we there yet dad??? I have to go pee dad!!!....I'm hungry dad!!!"

I once got stopped for not making a complete stop at the stop sign at the end of the
short cut in sonoyta .Cop Motioned us over under the tree. Well he took a twenty, He also said if we ever needed a personal escort to the border to just give him a call, best twenty bucks we ever invested.:rofl:

Good Jeeplady you changed your mind. So I don't need to watch out for your red jeep trying to run me and my dirt bike over at the border then ? Thanks I waited in line 20 minutes to cross on my bike but it was the 5 cars in front of me loaded with half there house and all there big kid toys that took so long to get through. When my turn came I was through the border in less then 30 seconds on my bike into and out of Mexico.

If its a 100+ degrees outside.............. I guess I see if RPJOE Can catch me.......LOL :stir::har::har::har:
