Major Convention Center Planned for Rocky Point

Sounds interesting. Hopefully it actually gets fully built not like some of the half built buildings. Seems like there is some "dressing" up of rp going on....

Yes, "dressing" is a very good word to describe it! Would be nice to see those private jets from Scottsdale, etc. flying down Las Conchas & Sandy Beach again.

I know..i wish it would go back to those days again too and to when the "cartel stuff" was quieter in the background. You would think the cartels would not want to destroy mexican tourism.

Indeed. I mean, nobody cared when it was going on behind the scenes. But when headless bodies, mass graves, police chiefs shot, military presence on the streets, etc., makes the news over and over, it's too in your face to be ignored.

One would think that the general Mexican populace would revolt against what the cartels have done to both society and tourism in Mexico, but instead, many of the cartel guys seem to enjoy a cult hero status. Sad, but very doubtful we'll see any return to the "good old days" when smuggling of both drugs and humans wasn't a bloodbath.

I guess if you want to make things real simple (and not taking into account other political issues), it's like the guys who were raised on watching the Godfather movies vs. Scarface. Big difference.

Yeah Over and Over and Over and over and over. turn off the News, it's not News its a money magnet.

Y'all should try to remember that the motivation for the violence and every dollar spent by the cartels comes directly from a US drug user. About time to spread a little responsibility around. Over 30,000 Mexicans have been murdered with the help of US Criminals. That's not reported over and over maybe because it turns off the high percentage of news viewers that are those criminal users and will turn of the station that rubs it in their face. Don' t wanna lose those viewers, that results in less income. Then of course, many of the news reporters and staff fall into that category, criminal users, but they don' t see a single thing wrong with supporting the violence. It's just an innocent little pleasure for them.

You ain't ever gonna see it portrayed that way, Roberto. Or should I say, Don Quixote. Keep tilting at windmills, old man!

You are forgetting the one thing that will NEVER allow the news to be reported that way -- drug users, as well as the bodies littering Mexico, are also VICTIMS. Everyone in our society today is a VICTIM. No one is responsible for their own actions. It's always someone else's fault. Just ask any lawyer. He'll tell you that somebody is responsible for your stupidity and ineptitude (or Darwinism at work) and just how many dollars signs with zeroes that means to you as a VICTIM.

Turn off the news? What better comedy show is there on the airwaves these days?

My son works for a large international company and he recently told me he went to Rocky Point for a corporate meeting. I was surprised, shocked actually. This may be something that will get built and bring lots of people to RP.
