I misinterpreted your statement Robert, "Since most stern drive inboards are converted car engines,"; my fault.
My intent was to warn the uninformed that even though automotive parts will bolt up to boat engines; it shouldn't be done unless one knows what they're doing. A friend attempted that with a v-6 heads (this guy had fished for years and did most of his own outdrive repair, but he found these rebuilt auto v-6 heads cheaper), but didn't notice the cooling jacket location difference in the heads.
I've seen many automotive parts bolted on boat engines. Sure it can be done, but as you probably know, the average Joe doesn't give it a second thought. Hey, its cheaper at Autozone right?
Happy, I was hoping you'd respond to this thread because I stated I do not know about drag boat engines.
