Looks like a taxi driver was shot dead in town on Monday night according to numero online.

If that were not enough, numero online reports 3 were killed in Caborca with AK47s yesterday.

And, let us not forget about the professor that was violently kidnapped from his home in Sonoyta.

But, even worst of all; there is now a smoking ban in penasco at all restaurants that is being enforced.

The party is over people.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised when I couldn't even have a cig on the outdoor patio at Capone's last trip. Had to physically walk off the premises! Americanization at its finest.

Hey, Stuart,

Sorry to hear that you failed at your effort to quit smoking. I remember several years ago, when your attempt to quit resulted in so much psychological distress that you became a total victum to HAPPY, falling right into his trap!

Nicotine is the most addictive substance known to man. Most heroin addicts wean themselves before they die, but a nicotine addict takes his addiction with him to his death bed. You can get a heroin addict, who smokes, off his heroin, but you can't get him off his cigarettes.

What finally cured me was seeing an old guy in a wheel chair, on oxygen, at the non-smoking, door waiting area at an airport. He wheeled himself over to the smoking area, and huffed two cigarettes, one right after the other. Observing that, made up my mind. I went cold turkey, in my mind, the only way to really quit. Never again touch another cigarette. It does work 100%!

For several years, many dreams about smoking. Every time I lit one up, I would instantly wake up with the fear going back to smoking. There is a (temporary) price to pay to break the addiction, but well worth it for your health, for those who love you, and for your wallet.

I don't believe in prohibitions, but I do believe others have the right to be free of air contaminated by smokers in closed environments. If one chooses to do drugs, they should be able to do them without messing up the air that others have to breathe.

Hey, Stuart,

Sorry to hear that you failed at your effort to quit smoking.
Thanks. I'm not a heavy or chain smoker. I guilt myself about it and have cut back to the point that I only smoke about 10 cigs a day. Still 10 too many. I bought Alan Carr's book on quitting smoking and thought I was ready to quit, but think I need to go back and re-read it. It's in my plan to quit this year, but I'm not being stupid about it and making it a New's Year's resolution that I'll break and only feel more self-guilt about. My downfall on previous attempts to quit always seems to be some stressful event occurs in my life and I find myself turning back to the cigarettes to cope. Plus, buying cigs at UETA at $15 a carton has negated the economic impact of smoking and allowed me to continue to justify it in my own mind. I'm strong in so many other areas of my life, but when it comes to the cigs, I'm weak and will be the 1st one to admit it.

Smoke was so bad at Black Dog last time we were down there (one of the few places open that late, mid-week) that we had to leave. Sucks that it has come to this, but the pluses outweigh the minuses...

NOW, any new word on what that cabbie killing was all about?

:thumbsup:Stuart, good luck! I know firsthand how hard it is. The first time I quit was when my first son was born and I couldn't stand the thought of anything "icky" around him. Then after 3 years, like you, I had a stressfull time and starting again. I smoked for another 3 years and was having a hard time quitting. I smoked Viceroy at the time, and I got so pissed at the cigs having power over me, I set a half-smoked pack on the table next to my chair at home and literally "dared" it to make me smoke...getting mad helped! I do wish you success in this. It will make a world of difference in the quality of your life.

Stuart....my dad quit cold turkey....it was brutal for him....and everyone else around him!!! Good luck! Now if I could get my daughter and son-in-law to quit....

Each time I check into a hospital for something that could be cancer one of the first questions ask is do you smoke or have you ever smoked. My reply to each is no. Generaly the next statement made by the person taking the information is " good is is not likey to be cancer".
With this in mind I find it hard to believe anyone would risk death because of tobaco of any form. Please all of you who smoke, QUIT SMOKEING, there is no better reason than your healthy life.
