New boat

Well after bidding and bidding and not getting the boat I want I decided to buy a new boat for Edna. I bought her an XR-1. Well not quite a boat but an 8 ft. pontoon so she can at least go out with me in the shallows. I sure hope she enjoys it. It would be nice to have company out there. As of all my nedical problems she no longer wanted me to go to the estuaries alone, so now we can go together. I sure hope it gets here before we leave on Fri.

They are great. Mine at 10 ft weighs 60 lbs and hers at 8 ft weighs 50. Unstrap the pontoons let the air out and roll them up. The seating takes about 4 min to assemble. If in a pick up just leave assembled and put all in the back. I have a small trailer and hope I will be able to figure a way to easly put two toons on it. Edna has said she has to be tied to me as I tend to just paddle off.
We don't get here until nex time down.
Hope to see all this weekend!

OK, so we're new to PP and finding our way around. Hubby likes & wants to fish, he just bought a small sea kayak. Will a kayak or your wife's boat qualify for the fishing license requirements that I've read about? He likes to fish from shore....but wanted to try with the kayak to get out a little bit further. Where are the estuaries you are talking about? I did find a post from Roberto about shore fishing at La Pinta and want to try there as well.
Thanks

I just looked at the web site and found one for $199 but it doesn't look like it will take a small trolling motor. does anyone think it will need a small motor? They look easy to adapt for just about any type of fishing. Not sure if you catch a nice 30lb pinto might make it a little interesting.

You can fish from a shore-launched kayak without a license. Frankly, you aren't likely to get checked for a license unless you are in the Old Port in a "real" boat and they flag you down.

La Marua estuary is about 8 miles east of town- go out on the Las Conchas/Caborca highway and turn right at the Playa Encanto sign- take the dirt road all the way to where the beach houses start and take a right- stay on the lower road (the upper one goes to the condos) and follow the lower road about 2 miles as it runs along the backs of the developments. You should eventually get to a gate to the La Marua Yacht club with a big sign that days "Members Only- Keep out!" - just ignore the sign as you drive in and park at the end of the road near the chain. That whole strech of beach is the mouth of the estuary and when the tide rolls the water can really get moving in there.

La Pinta estuary is past the Mayan Palace on the same Caborca road (about 15 miles from PP)- about 2 miles past the point where the road bends to the right (south) there is a dirt road on the right (also with a Keep out sign) that will take you down to the mounth of La Pinta.

I would have to think a 30 # Pinto would drag your a%^ all over the ocean. Sounds like fun to me. With you would not real in the fish you would real the boat up to him.

Hopefully the fish would ware down just enough to beat it with a bat before it gets any strength back. Could make fishing for trigger fish more exciting

OH YES A larger one will give a little ride. The problem I find with an electric trolling motor is that there is no keel on these and they realy want to wander. I am going to be looking for some nice alum. T bar about 4 ft long to strap to the bottom of the toons to act as a keel I think this might work. I bought what the company sells and it is worthless. You have to remember these are not realy made for the ocean tides and wind . Row Row Row your boat.
