Sea Trials

Not exactly Sea Trials but lake trials. Got the prop on and finally put her in the water. Can't wait till I put it in at Cholla Bay and do some of that fishing that I have only read about in Rocky Point. My 1973 Proline has been brought back to life. She ran wonderfull except for hooking up the hydraulic steering in reverse. A couple minutes with the wrench and we were back going the right direction.

Cool looking little boat! Should be perfect for going out and wrestling some grouper!

Thanks Stuart'
I will need to twist someone's arm to help me take it out and show me the ropes. It's got a very short draft so I am interested in using in the some shallow flats. I think fly fishing in the flats would be fun. I allready have the reefs programed in for the grouper.

Nice! Is that pic taken on Lake Pleasant? I might be out there next weekend (the 25th) running my new Mako and making sure everything is ready for her first Mexico trip.

I hope you have a big fan (or air conditioning) in that California-style pilot house , lol. Sometimes in Rocky Point you have to fire up the engines and run a while just to get the sweat dried off of you...

Robert,
The boat was lake Perris in Southern California. I would have liked a Mako but it was beond my wifes bugget. I built the proline for just under 25k with motor and electronics. It has everything I wanted in a fishing boat, lots of fish storage 3'x3' icebox underdeck, good size bait tank, selfbailing, head, GPS, Fishfinder, Radar. No ac but I put a dorado vent just over my head to keep me cool.

Kenny,
I live about 1/2 hour away by Ontario airport. We have talked about going to the speedway many times, I hear it is alot of fun.

I remeber that now. I went to Upland high school for about a year, and made it to Ontario Motor speedway before it disapeared in the blink of a eye.
Perri's is a great facility, and this weekend's show http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forum.cfm?ThreadID=47206 , or the Oval Nationals in November, would both be good choices for a sprint car event.

Your boat looks to have a lot of personality. For a shallow draft boat it has a sharp entry so it should work out well for you in the choppy Sea of Cortez. Get er bloody!!

Rick that is a bad ass looking boat. hope it does everything you want. looks like there would be a lot of fishing room on that back deck. good luck and break her in rite.

Bill,
How is the fishing in Rocky Point at Christmas? I will be down for at least a week and want to try out the boat.

Rick I am not realy the guy to ask on that. I just have a small boat and the boss lady will not go out on it very far. To me it seems it is always good but sometimes great. As long as you have reef info you should do fine for something at almost any time of year. Also the estuaries always have something. And as a last resorte there always Rock Bass and Triger fish, great eating.

Bill,
I would love to find someone to fish with when I am down at Christmas. I allready programmed in the GPS all the reefs out of Wally's book and a few others I found in news groups. My boat only has a 6" draft so fishing the estuaries would be alot of fun. I have about a 350 mile range on the boat and lots of room to fish. I am in Cholla bay and can't wait to be picked up at my front door by the launch vechicle. We use to catch trigger by hand scuba diving in San Carlos, they would put there head in the rocks and leave there tails sticking out. We would grab them by the tail and put them on a steel stringer. Great for cevechie. I'am hungry!

Ric,
I have it in California now but I plan on bring it down. We did a few check out rides in a local lake and fixed a fuel problem. Now it's time for Dana Point and some kelp fishing.
