I fished .25 mile outside of a Cholla Bay in 79 degree water last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It was very windy and choppy as the tide receded. I averaged ten Corvina and three Pompano during each three hour period after high tide. I don't know if this is productive as I am new to RP fishing; I thought the information would be useful though.

Too bad about the fishing crew; it was very windy . . .

Imitation biodegradable saltwater bait and (believe it or not) beef stew.

That's not bad, not bad at all. With those Corvina it can be very hit and miss, you had steady action!
I looked at the pictures on your profile, and having lived in Portland, Vancouver, Orchards and up by Camas at the bottom of the gorge, those picture's of the Willamette, and the marina looked familiar. The first time you posted a picture of Stella, I thought, now there's a boat that would be right at home up in the Pacific Northwest.
I've been on the Columbia when it's been as nasty as you would want, and then some. That big river can get ugly in a hurry.
I think you'll pick up a few tricks of the trade, and do very well with Stella.

Thats a coincidence! I have lived in Seattle, Lynden, Portland and LOVE the Columbia River. Saw a great air show right off the river once, Harriers close up. A wing-walker fell from a bi-plane and was connected by his safety wire, they couldn't pull him up...finally...ran a truck down the runway, matched the airspeed of the plane, and cut him loose. All very exciting. Love the Pacific Northwest! There is hope for you yet, Kenneth!:bunny:

18lb Native Buck

Dec 2nd, 1985..I had to get one more steelhead before I left. This is a 18lb Native Buck out of the east fork of the Lewis River, and it was caught on light gear... I'm in my backyard... I wouldn't trade that fish for a 100# Grouper!

of course ceviche de corvina is one of the best, however we have many way and each is better than the last, I am running out of time need to go to promoto the Fun Run in Tucson, but remind me later and I will have a couple of recipies for you!!

You guys have me really missing the Pacific Northwest, where I partially grew up. (Was born there in 1961 and moved to Tucson in 1972). One of my top five all time favorite places for an amazing sight is Multnomah Falls. I hope it's as gorgeous now as it was back then. The only real fishing I remember doing is when I would go on summer vacations to my dad's (Yakima, WA) after we moved down here and then we would go on a week long vacation to the San Juan Islands and fish and crab and have a frickin' great time!! Taking me back.........................................................

OK, I ate and am satisfied, a good dinner and 3 mojitos later, makes the day just wonderful!!!

Sudado de Corvina (serves 8)
Ingredients:
2 pound of corvina
butter
2 garlic cloves
1/2 an onion cut in long strips about 3/16 thick
1 table spoon of peruvian yellow chili mashed (it is more flavorfull than hot, I might try hatch chili peppers, different but tasty too)
1 glass of white wine
1/4 of persil bunch chopped

Preparation:
smirred the corvina with butter, salt and pepper.
in a flat pan, sautee the onions and garlic, when the onion are transparent add the chili pepper, wine and persil add the fish and lower the heat to minimum, check if it needs more salt (salt will not kill you unless you use 1 pound at a time) and squeeze a 1/4 of a lime and cover the pan, in a cup mix a teaspoon of flour and some water to thicken the juices, turn the fish over carefully not to break it appart to much and wait for it to complete cooking.
Serve with boiled or baked potatoes or and rice.
The way we cook the rice is with garlic and salt, unlike the steam rice it is so good you can eat it by itself, but then that is another recipe!! enjoy more to come later I am to full to keep typing :eek3:
