Anyone own these Transpeninsular Outfitters resources?

Any opinions on these? I read you guys talking about about your favorite spots all the time (the 51, Witches Hat, etc.)- but let's cut to the chase.... I need to know where these spots are without burning several thousand gallons of gas trying to find them by trial and error. :geek:

I've always adhered to the "Fisherman's code" about never asking anyone where a particular fishing spot is- So I'm trying to find resources which will lead me to success when I take my boat down this spring...

The Fish N Maps were the very first resource I bought for my Mexican adventures, along with a copy of Gene Kira's "The Baja Catch." I highly recommend them both. Although Kira's book is more Baja centric, it still provides a lot of good information. The Fish N Maps aren't much help finding the good fishing spots, but they are good for charting distances and referencing waypoints so that you have an idea of what direction things are and how far apart they are relative to one another. I used them for years to mark waypoints manually and plan trips, until I got Garmin's Blue Charts. Now I do it all on the computer.

I dont' fish...but I need to hit up my buddy who's been fishing in the waters for somewhere around 30-40 years....he was transferring gps coordinates from an old unit of his.....

The first book you should buy is super grouper!! It is available at Phoenix Fishing Supply. 602 266 2624 This book has some very productive co ordinates. Launch out of Safe Marina and meet new friends, in no time you should be catching lots of fish.

2nd on Super Grouper; I had forgotten about that one. I still have my battered and worn copy next to my Fish N Maps. Some of the information is dated, but the coordinates are still accurate. The focus is specifically on how to catch big grouper.

I ran out to Phx Fishing Supply today and picked up a copy of "Secrets of Super Grouper".

Excellent book. I love that he included some emergency phrases in Spanish in case you have to call for help.

One question, though- You guys mention that you like the 16 mile reef for making bait, but this book lists two 16 mile reefs- one on heading 210, and the other on heading 180...?

The 16-180 is good for catching bait in the winter.
