Lucky the people of Sonora see this in a different way...70000 protesters in Mexicali Sunday....I realize you are a bit of a company man...sucking up to power is not a bad move for a guy that could lose his lively hood if one permit is pulled by a low level PAN or PRI flunky...but seeing what my friends on the coast are going through does matter to me van man....you most likely voted for Trump and the repercussions of that error may dwarf this one...good luck..my guess is if the leftists take power in 2018 Gasolinizado will be the reason.....then we pay

Except the price of fuel in Europe is radically priced higher due to onerouss taxes and government regulation.

I would prefer that people pay for their own train rides, bike lanes and especially their own day care but the walking part is good.

I'd prefer a base level of daycare so that people can work, but have better options for those that want to pay. Same with doctors, but we could (and have I think) argue this for days...

Well if you are in town and are afraid to travel at least you can come to the Mermaids Market in downtown Peñasco Saturday Feb 4th.......if you don't have gas or you are afraid to drive because of everything happening....(we'll see) whatever you can always get a cab to bring you to the center of the city. Thus, in Mexico City Magna gasoline would go from 16.32 to 17.63 pesos, while Premium would go up from 18.20 to 19.65, and diesel from 17.07 to 18.43 pesos.
This would be the consequence of the release of fuel prices, at their maximum, according to the behavior of international crude oil prices, their refining and transportation to the point of sale, in this case the service station and the commission that Corresponds to the concessionaire and taxes. Then on the 11th another boost....like I said...iffy time to travel

Baja Gasoline - Diesel Availability / Highway Blockades:
I have refrained from posting updates in recent days, searching for a consensus from all my sources as to what we can expect to happen tomorrow after the new fuel prices are scheduled to be announced. Right now there is a lot of confusion as to exactly what is going to happen next. The federal government is putting out some mixed messages as to if a price hike will indeed occur, if so how much and suggesting that even if a price increase were implemented, it might only be temporary as in March the price of fuels would be deregulated and allowed to freely fluctuate with the market.
Add to that there is also a lot of confusion happening right now in the border areas, as a recent stimulus program was enacted that allows stations near the border to sell fuel at a lower price to better compete with the border gas stations in the US. Most stations down here in Mexico along the border have failed to comply, arguing that the stimulus program was setup where they would be selling the fuel at a price that is cheaper than their cost of purchase and would be forced to wait for up to 60-90 days to be reimbursed, effectively forcing them to self-finance the stimulus program and something that many of them are not financially able to do right now.
There are reports in recent days of many isolated area protests occurring at the border, government offices and at the toll booths with their cause ranging from the gasolinazo, failure to lower the fuel prices with the stimulus program and a few even aimed at Donald Trump.
Bottom line, at this point in time the ball is in the federal government's court and all eyes and ears are waiting to see what will happen tomorrow. So the best advice I can offer right now is to stay tuned and see what happens next.
Currently fuel is available and highways are open.

I'm heading down to PP tomorrow. Don't need no stinkin roads. I'm driving my F-350 4x4 diesel dually with a 36 gal fuel tank. I can take the old beach route if required and the final leg down to PP along the RR tracks. I talked to Dave of Pink Caddy Bar & Cantina yesterday. He said "most" Pemex stations are open, business as normal for the locals, few if any Gringos, typical slow winter season. We plan on heading back to Salinas Point on Saturday in my Wrangler, beach combing the last strip north to the point. Supposed to be in the 80's with no winds. Maybe get a big bolsa of camarrones grandes from the El Jaguey pangeros on the way back.
