Lovin it in RP!
So this document have been floating around for a few weeks and I thought it would an interesting read. There is a group of scientist on both sides of the border who are figuring out the feasibility of sell Sea of Cortes water to the USA, it looks like a good by product would be more sustainable water supply for Peñasco as well. The writing is above my pay grade but I think I get the gist of it

I think it is critical for Rocky Point's current and future infrastructure to develop a long term plan of building a desal facility. It makes sense to build with options to add on in the future as demands increase. However, the concept of the Sea of Cortez supplying desal water to the US concerns me. A desal facility of this magnitude would have huge negative consequences that would be difficult for RP to manage. The environmental impact to the SOC and the energy requirements to name a few. My vote would be to build a desal in RP, and only for the benefit of RP.

Where would the brine go?
Back in the good ol Sea of Cortez. If you read the article they barely touch on the Environmental Impact portion which was my primary concern before even reading the article. The SOC in all essence does not flush well since it is an open ended bath tub. Over a period of years (who knows how many) the Northern SOC could very well be a turned into a dead sea if they were to choose the bi-nation plan due to the high salinity content.
