Penasco South Beaches: Santo Tomas

Mexico Joe

Cholla Bay 4 Life
Jerry must be slipping in his old age. Great video showing the beauty and solitude of Santo Tomas. Fricken love that place... Enjoy!

@SantoTomas

Well today we finally followed up on Jerry's and Mexico Joe's advice and did a day trip south to Santo Tomas.
The road from Cholla was pretty good but a little past the Mayan Palace turn-off, it turns into potholed filled
nasty for the next 20+ miles.
This stretch reminds me of Highway 8 from 25 years ago, narrow, uneven and even be treacherous.
After the 20 miles of nasty the road turns into a wonderful stretch of wide beautiful roadway.
Got to ST after 90 minutes and drove to the sales office, we met the guy running the sales and design part of it.
I asked if he knew Jerry and he smiled. We talked for a while and then headed down to our group to enjoy the
beach, Man what a nice beach, it goes on forever. I can even see Mexico Joe's video of blasting down the beach
in my head. We stayed for 4 hours and met some other people down with their kid's and had a great time.
I will definitely do that trip again.
Thank you, Jerry, Joe (and others) for mentioning how wonderful Santo Tomas is in these threads.:):):)

Drove that today? Not sure where you saw potholes past Mayan? Smooth for me? Same road?

I drove to Santo Tomas May 29th, The 15 miles of narrow road East of the Mayan was pretty rough, many of the potholes patches were on the road.

After that stretch it turns into a wonderful stretch of newer road with shoulder lanes.

Here is a shot of it past the Mayan turnoff.

It it was like that when we drove to Desemboque earlier in the month, before it was patched.
