Burglars Active in the Mirador

Thanks for the Pics Dog. Looks like some handcuffs in that one display cabinet there !! Hmmm guess I need to check it out. Looks much bigger and cleaner. The outside is tatty looking.

Of course bad things happen everywhere, just like good things. No where is safe to invest and everywhere is safe to invest (depends on countless factors). The reporting of good or bad news for Penasco should be expected on a blog. Similar to what would be found in a 'local' news section of a city. I would expect one to report what they see (especially crime). I would also expect sensationalism to come along (then again we are all adults and hopefully can decipher what is cheerleading and what is constant negativity.) This blog is no different than any news publication in the world. Just pick up your local newspaper and you will see that 80% of the info shared is negative (does not make it wrong, just makes it what it is). Those that want only good news shared will be upset when someone always reports bad news. Those that want bad news, will be upset with those that only want good news. Either way, report what is factual and let me decide how to take the info.
You have to be like the modern MMA fighter for this forum, effective in all disciplines of the sport.

Maybe the next Mermaid gathering should be a promotional effort geared towards public safety.
Russ could introduce everyone to the people that keep him safe and sound. Maybe these people can help the "other locals" that aren't privileged enough to live in gated communities or secured condos.
You know come up with citizen block watch programs etc. .
If the "other locals" are feeling secure in their neighborhoods then anyone reading these posts, thinking of visiting, should have no issues with visiting.
(About 50/50 Sarcastic, probably not a bad idea...)

For myself, knowing about possible water issues, gas prices, crooked police, trying to figure out which cartel is going to be in charge (hell who is in charge anyways), fish mongers with "special" scales for tourists, rules and regulations, which restaurants to try or if the ones you like are even open month to month, etc. etc. etc., my friends and family still keep going!

As a matter of fact we will be there again in 2 weeks for the 3rd time this summer and are already making plans for the September visit.

After meeting you Russ I have no desire to argue with you. And you living there I envy completely. But if these "negative" posts in these forums affected your business and your wife's business then I could see being so defensive.
I doubt that's the case.

If I felt that the subject matter was flat out driving people away from PP then I would be up in arms over what is said.

But being informed, truthfully informed, is the reason people come to this forum and is the responsibility of the members to provide. In My Opinion.

A Trolls a Trolls a Troll!
If you knew the history of our forums you'd know how true some of your thoughts are Hill. There is a reason why our benefactor Tyler has no sponsors of any kind to censure truth about what's going on in RP and the surrounding areas... One of our forums was bought by a certain individual and his company and years worth of valuable information was deleted to suppress the truth about the real-estate market in RP and the unsavory tactics being used to fleece people, a lot of retirees, right before the downturn. As a whole, we have never been a friendly place for those who put the almighty dollar above all else; no matter who they are.

Absolutely Kenny. And any of you that don't want your almighty dollars, just send them my way.

Also, I'll take any non-almighty dollars you feel like discarding. I want all the money in the world because I need it.

You know me bud, I hope at the end of the day, that the forums inform people so that once they do decide to go visit or to go buy that they don't go into it blindly.
Go visit but, visit smart!
Go buy but, buy smart!

I remember a story told about a break in in the PDO storage area. One of the sec. guards heard something going on after hours and called for help.
Not the police! Several of the people came in and found the thief. They held him down and smashed his hand. They then told him to tell all his friends that they do not call the police, they handle the problem themselves. They sent him on his way. Seems little problem since then. Sounds good to me.

Things have apparently not slowed down in the Mirador. I heard about 2 over the past 2 days. The person who earlier was passing info on to me had been robbed left town so I have not been getting updates. The beachfront town homes up the beach from Mannys are getting hit hard. Friend left to walk down the beach, gone 20 minutes, left dogs inside the home but did not lock the door. Came back to find a slightly opened door on the beach side and ph0nes and computer gone. He told me a neighbor got burgled while napping with an unlocked door.

Incandescent globe lightbulbs are in high demand and often stolen there so you know what that means !!

These people are brassy and bold so if you are in the area and want to keep your stuff keep the door locked at all times.

Enlighten us, please.:)
I assume something drug related, last time I was broken into, they took about 10 from the light fixtures and
all the CFL bulbs I had.
Hopefully the alarm and warning stickers deter them.

They remove the metal from the glass and cook their drugs in the bulb.

Good if the alarm is monitored. They know to rush the control panel and clip all the wires which will turn off the alarm so it might sound for only a few seconds. The monitoring people are aware of the break in though if monitored. Happened to me one time and the alarm repair guy was at the house in a few minutes. I moved the control box to a less noticeable place after that.

That's why I found a couple of baseless bulb globes with some nasty looking stuff in them last time I was broken into.
Roberto, Thanks for explaining it.
