Blah blah blah. It is simply amazing how much you know.........trolling? not me I live here and have a vested interest. It cracks me up when people are surprised that they get robbed when they aren't home. It made me mad when I went to my house in Cottonwood AZ and all the windows were open and all of the kitchen appliances were missing......but this did not show up on some sort of Cottonwood police report warning possible tourist about coming to charming Cottonwood. Because shit happens that's all. Oh but it happens in Mexico and all of a sudden it is major news.........crap - all of it. Protect your belongings if you want to keep them.

Of course bad things happen everywhere, just like good things. No where is safe to invest and everywhere is safe to invest (depends on countless factors). The reporting of good or bad news for Penasco should be expected on a blog. Similar to what would be found in a 'local' news section of a city. I would expect one to report what they see (especially crime). I would also expect sensationalism to come along (then again we are all adults and hopefully can decipher what is cheerleading and what is constant negativity.) This blog is no different than any news publication in the world. Just pick up your local newspaper and you will see that 80% of the info shared is negative (does not make it wrong, just makes it what it is). Those that want only good news shared will be upset when someone always reports bad news. Those that want bad news, will be upset with those that only want good news. Either way, report what is factual and let me decide how to take the info.

Maybe the next Mermaid gathering should be a promotional effort geared towards public safety.
Russ could introduce everyone to the people that keep him safe and sound. Maybe these people can help the "other locals" that aren't privileged enough to live in gated communities or secured condos.
You know come up with citizen block watch programs etc. .
If the "other locals" are feeling secure in their neighborhoods then anyone reading these posts, thinking of visiting, should have no issues with visiting.
(About 50/50 Sarcastic, probably not a bad idea...)

For myself, knowing about possible water issues, gas prices, crooked police, trying to figure out which cartel is going to be in charge (hell who is in charge anyways), fish mongers with "special" scales for tourists, rules and regulations, which restaurants to try or if the ones you like are even open month to month, etc. etc. etc., my friends and family still keep going!

As a matter of fact we will be there again in 2 weeks for the 3rd time this summer and are already making plans for the September visit.

After meeting you Russ I have no desire to argue with you. And you living there I envy completely. But if these "negative" posts in these forums affected your business and your wife's business then I could see being so defensive.
I doubt that's the case.

If I felt that the subject matter was flat out driving people away from PP then I would be up in arms over what is said.

But being informed, truthfully informed, is the reason people come to this forum and is the responsibility of the members to provide. In My Opinion.

A Trolls a Trolls a Troll!

I wish I could like a reply more than just once.

Well Gil.

I live on a dirt street not in a walled or secured neighborhood. I know my neighbors and they know me. The sense of community is strong and I appreciate it. Naomis business is doing great, my business is as well. I simply dislike negative BS just for the sake of being..............there is much more to life than just being a downer eve though I am having one of those days

Let me make sure to say I didn't assume you lived in a protected environment. And I tried to make sure that I get what you are saying. Compared with some individuals I did not get that you are completely disconnected from the "other locals". Quite the opposite. You are out and about mixing it up with people. I do not lump you in with the "locals" that others refer to.

I think the forums are reasonably balanced but maybe tends towards the negative more often if you only read one section of the forums. I know you and your comments would be missed here by the very people you are generally point/counter pointing with day in and day out.

I don't like arguing but I have to say, it's been pretty quiet here lately. Almost dead. I think it sucks that negative pops that bubble more often than not but it's valid.

Yeah I saw that, couldn't remember the day though. We will be there at the Spa Aug 22-25. Never stayed resort style!

This forum has lost a lot of valuable info because of the extreme negativity that some feel is the way to be. I miss post by Mark, Char and others who find it more peaceful to just live their lives without the social media retards. I am leaning that way myself . Life is good, neighborhood quiet, tortillas hot and beer is cold. Ajua, I will take this anyday compared to up norte.

Do miss some of the names from the past that Russ quoted and many others are not active here anymore, but that is the nature of most forums.

People are active while they are interested when something is new and life changes for many people.
You see that with all those people who make their 1st trip to RP, just love it and report it here.
And after 10 posts become invisible, people become bored after awhile and find other things to interest them.

Because I have a place in Cholla, I keep coming back because RP news can be somewhat limited.
While there is some good info reported here, as well as some WhatTheHeck posts when you read them.

I can tolerate all of that and the negative for those slivers of good info found here. Keep up the good work. :)

Indeed, the site is slow right now. Most likely because it's the worst time of year in RP and nobody is visiting, therefore no trip reports. I don't want anyone to leave the site, all perspectives are appreciated. Especially local residents.

The ocean is calm, the water is warm and my personal company (Naomi) is great so it is a good time to be in RP

I don't care how hot it is, whether the water is calm or whatever.

If the Seat of Cortez is there, my friends are there, the beer is cold, the tacos are warm, I've never
had a bad time in Rocky Point. As this ballgame is drawing toward the final innings, I'll go there every chance I get.

I don't scare easy.

My sentiments exactly.

Funny cause, the resorts consider it to be peak season with their pricing! lol. I am wondering what will even be open when we come down in a couple weeks. Seems the resorts are filled? I don't get it.
