I thought there will be a lot of traffic here after the inaugural speech of the president, I just hope that he will be allowed to do the thing he has in mind to help us all and I am not talking about stimulus packages!!!

I read the hole thing this early a.m. fresh from the oven!!!! I was meaning all the people from here in the forum, I guess republicans are going to be very quiet for the next 4 years??? :eek3: :eek3:
OH!!! I know they are waiting to see Obama's first moves to critize, how about the wage freeze to the workers in the white house, I guess a maids there makes 5k/mth and the landscaper 6k/mth and he is from Guatemala, and we are going from guatemala to guatepeor!!!
By the way for those of you that have not noticed the link to rocky point news on line newspaper is at the bottom of the screen, just scroll down!!!!

PS: Tyler were is my link??

Mondays and Tuesdays are always a mad scramble for me, but I too was surprised that the forum was so quiet on the inauguration. I was especially moved by the way Canadians and Mexicans alike were enthralled by our process and hopeful for America. Did you notice the way the talking heads at Fox News even climbed on the bandwagon?

Remember when you watch that crap, you are supporting them! Boycott TV news as unreliable, inaccurate, distorted, etc. It's not news, it's an income source for the networks and subjects are selected to boost ratings not provide important information. More fun to read TheOnion.com

As I've already told some of my friends... My favorite part of the inauguration was when Obama escorted Bush off of the property. :D He walked him all the way  to the helicopter, just to make sure he got on it. I also enjoyed the waves from the crowd when he flew away, especially those patriotic :usa: middle finger salute's.

I certainly wouldn't recommend watching that stuff to people who can't sort out the bias and inaccuracies, but I'm not the gullible type. And yes, TheOnion is good. I tend to read whatever I can get my hands on and watch (half-heartedly) the information/news stuff just to see what's being said. Read the gossip sites too, by the way...

As a so-called conservative (compared to some here anyway) I for one don't plan to be quiet but I do plan on making the effort at being respectful to this President. If he does a good job he'll be there for 8 years and rightfully so.

It's a time to come together to solve the problems that are screwing up peoples lives.

Kenny...Whether people disagree or not with how the country has been run, what good does giving the finger to a President do and what does that say about us to the rest of the world?

I think the rest of the world must think we already threw all our shoes at the worst president in American History and were using our last weapon..
Shout out to Obama for giving the order to grease those 20 militants in Pakistan today with the predator and ending the international ban on family planning. Less troops more Predators! Smaller families=less poverty

Jerry, I think that when we reelected Bush for a second term we left more of a negative impact than by some people flipping off Bush as he left in the helicopter. In fact, it was probably reassuring to some folks in the "rest of the world" that some Americans felt that way. I imagine after eight years it was cathartic, an emotionally purging if you will, and may well have been healthy in a variety of ways.

Regardless of what is said here I don't think any of you would flip a President the finger. We have many freedoms that we probably would not exercise because of poor taste or whatever. Most down to earth people around the world know that this isn't how fair minded people behave even if they feel they've been crapped on.

The party and the leader that you support is now in office. Hopefully there will be a period of good will and some stuff will get accomplished.

Being skeptical a different then being negative. I'm skeptical. This kind of popularity, hero worship, and herd mentality usually ends badly. I think some of you know this but may not be willing to admit it. Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember situations in the past that felt identical to this and turned out to just be more of the same old BS.

I'm beginning to see how you operate castaway. First you try to disarm the people you think have different views than yours by saying nice things to them while assuming what they would or would not do..You then turn around and for the second time you say "but may not be willing to admit it" as if you have a private little window into our minds and YOU can see this little character defect we all have LOL.. The first time it was that our president was only elected because he was black, and now because we have a "herd mentality" we can't see, and won't admit it, and we are following some kind of false prophet..Ok, not a false prophet, but a "hero".
So tell me please, oh pretty please... Just what, when, and where castaway. I think there just might be a few of us who might remember or at the very least have heard of the "Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember situations in the past that felt identical to this and turned out to just be more of the same old BS." situations for which you speak. No fair using George W Bush or his dad..LOL

Second only to the Johnson landslide following the Kennedy assassination Nixon defeated McGovern in one of the biggest landslides ever...521 to 17 electoral votes.

We all know how the Nixon second term turned out. Certainly you can recall the disappointment and damage to the nation?

My only point was that the majority can be wrong. With this President Ken we know less then anyone that has ever been elected to the office...so the surprises could be huge or none at all.

Is this "operating" or is this discourse?

If you listen to Am radio at the beach late at night you will get a good education on Rightwing wingnut talking points.
Obama is a negro/Arab/non citizen/Muslim/terrorist/Communist/damn Community organizer and his wife is Satans handmaden.Listening to a right winger trying to sound reasonable when deep down he would just as soon lynch Obama makes one not want to compromise with the crazies on the right,
The republican party used to be about avoiding foreign entanglements, balanced budgets and management on a small federal government in a prudent fashion.
Now they are a laughing stock and real easy to beat. You bettca! wink wink

well, it seems that castaway is winning by being a hypocrite and making you guys play his game, all we need to know is that he is showing (here I go generalizing) the entire world how flaky republicans are!!! and yes I do agree that Bush got out easy with a middle finger waved at him instead of something else!!! and I do believe it showed the entire world how fond of him the american public was, is and will be (sarcasm), and yes I know that history will most defenitely talk at least one chapter about him in the text books and his corrupted ways.
I think I just bit his hook too!!!! :eek3:
Viva Tecate!!!
I found this quote made by ex-president George W. Bush:
"There has been a lot of speculation, and I believe there will continue to be a lot of speculation until the speculation ends"
At least he seem to get something right!!!

Bush sold us out to his big corporate buddies long ago and we will pay the price for years to come. But you're right, he doesn't deserve to be flipped off. He should be mooned by every US citizen he encounters for the rest of his life.
