Depending on how many years it has been since you've been down you could find some changes. Road down is better (except on the AZ side from Why to the border. Gila Bend area roads much better. Sandy beach is lined with Condos.

If you loved it before and felt safe I would say that you will feel the same. More check points on both sides but we've never had any problems with them. A smile goes a long way both sides of the border. People are as wonderful and friendly as before. More things to do and places to eat.

A passport or card is required, but if you don't have it I understand they still have to let you back into the USA (be sure to bring lots of photo id - birth certificate if possible - if you don't have a passport/card). Don't forget Mexican auto insurance - you can do that online now. And no stopping for visas.

Just watched the most incredible sunrise - but then that is almost everyday. Sea is smooth and calm and the beach great for walking. You really should come on down - you'll love it at least as much as before and maybe more.

I've been coming down for 47 years. I'm a single woman. I used to drive at night but stopped 3 years ago due to cows, slow moving cars with dim lights and crazy speeding passers in big pick up trucks towing ginormous 5th wheels. I bring my mother and my boyfriend down. Come on down!

Lived here full time for about 7 years now. The town is quiet and peaceful. No bodies in the street. No bales of pot in the back of trucks. No people with guns , except the law enforcement folk. Yes we have military patrols in town and stops on the way out. Kids run on the beach. Families come to town. I would not be concerned other than taking common sense precautions.

Thankyou for the replys . I think once we go down there and everyone sees its not bad well spread the word .
That's how it's been in my experience. We invite someone who hasn't been down before or for awhile. They respond in fear and trembling, citing media warnings. We roll our eyes. Eventually they accompany us, knees knocking. By the end of their stay in Penasco, they want to know how soon they can return.
