Bufalo Rentals on Fremont next to combo Taco, across the street from the fire station rents compact cars and recently both full size passenger vans as well as Mini vans. Also on the lot is a 17 ft or so double axel flatbed trailer and a two wheel car dolly available for rent. The vehicles can be driven to the US. Thought this might be useful for someone having family fly in to Phoenix or Tucson. If you have a large group coming down, certainly less cost to drive up and back than passenger fare even with the cost of fuel. The trailer is good for local moving or construction materials pickup if you have a vehicle with a hitch. Bufalo Rentals 638 388 9999.

There is another vehicle rental place nearby on Benito Juarez that also has large and small passenger vans, 4WD and compacts.

I've rented from both with satisfactory results and no financial interest in either.

We rented a compact car from Bufalo for the week of Thanksgiving for $4500 pesos (pay 6 days get 7th free). It included Mex and US insurance and unlimited miles.

When we returned the car (and got back all $2000 peso deposit), they told us about their chauffeur (?) airport service. If you rent from them, they'll pick you up at the Peñasco airport for just the cost of the additional gas. They can also pick you up at the Phoenix airport if you pay the driver $50 dlls over the regular rental cost.

This is solely based on my memory from last year. Please verify with them if they still offer this service and current prices.

And same disclosure - I have no affiliation with Bufalo, either.

Yes, I thought it sounded interesting, too. Not sure of the details, but worth looking for folks driving in from Phoenix airport. In our case, we were picking them up at the airport, but we didn't even know about this option until we were returning the car.
