Stole this from Mary Las Conchas website. It has come to our attention that the bridge on Route 8 in Sonoyta leading to Puerto Penasco has been knocked down for the construction of a four lane bridge. There is a detour with adequate signage leading past the construction. This detour may entail some traffic delays, so please plan your trip accordingly.Be safe and happy.

I always run thru the wash, west of the bridge, I hope thats not the detour. It will be a huge traffic jam.

I remember when they were redoing the road in the mid 90's. We would detour off to the side and run the dirt. They still used those black burning things, what were they called? to alert people to the construction......I was glad i had a Jeep! I felt sorry for the people in cars.......

The only back way I know is when you come into Sonoyta from Rocky Point you make that left hand turn to miss the town take it around and make a left turn at the stop sign. You go across the river with the pillars up and no bridge ( I think... it may be a walking bridge some year) and you wind up at the intersection. If you turn right it takes you to the way out to the US. If you cross the road it takes you behind the Circle K. Where is the missing bridge?

At the Circle K go right, as if you were going to Mexicali, the first left you can make, take it, cross the river go to the stop sign, make a right, follow the road to the next stop sign, go right and now you are on the road to RP, no traffic, no stores.

This is the last time I steal anything from you and post it on facebook... LoL... probably a bunch of people wondering which bridge we're talking about... maybe we should call in Russ to straighten this out...

I was only joking Russ... but if you do, be sure you blame it all on playaperro...

On another note.. going in and out watch your speed on the long road at the 20 km 40 km change and so on. I seen 5 total pulled over going in and coming home. Also at the last hill coming into town where the Red Cross sets up for donations I seen one behind me get nailed. Make sure you give a nice donation to the Red Cross also.......

Bill, thanks for those directions. Is that what people have been referring to as the "Shortcut"? Also, doesn't that come out down by the grocery store?
