Travel warning issued in Laveen?

Several people were wounded when multiple shots were fired Monday night in Laveen, authorities said, with one person killed.
Fifteen to 20 gunshots were reported near Southern and 74th avenues shortly before 9 p.m., said Capt. Scott Walker of the Phoenix Fire Department.
Police believe three people have been shot, Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department said. One victim later was reported dead.
Phoenix police are investigating.

I live in Laveen (45th Ave and Baseline) and it's nice! It sounds like a weird, crappy place but it's not - the houses are new - it feels like being out of town but still close enough to be in town.

Just goes to show that you're not safe anywhere! Viva Puerto Peñasco!

My cousin was stot in her garage in an upscale Atlanta neighborhood. People have been shot in home invasions in upscale Scottsdale. People think with emotions and not logic. And there is very little that one can say to change their opinions once they have been embedded. When we first moved to AZ in 1945 all my parents' friends just knew we would be scalped and/or as all they had to go on about AZ was the cowboy and indian movies. It took them years - and in some cases a trip to AZ - before they changed their opinions - and some probably never did.

Let's hope we get a smarter crop of kids growing up.

A lot of that area is a mismosh....one side of the street is in Phoenix, while the other may be in Laveen(or the res).....you should take a look at the Phoenix boundary maps..... http://phoenix.gov/BNDMAPS/keymap.pdf

There are crappy areas all around town...there are parts of Paradise Valley that may not be safe to walk around in....

My post office is Laveen, City of Phoenix water. I love that there are still some rural areas in Laveen also. Lots of horse property, dairy farms, crops, etc. Further south of Dobbins, 27th to 51st Avenues is beautiful too.

My grandma was scared to death when we moved to Arizona in 1965. I was 8 years old and I remember my grandma telling my mom that I would be kidnapped by "Indians", sorry for the bad word..... She finally came out to visit in 1978 and was really surprised that it was "civilized' here........

That's Funny. My parents came out west from Newfoundland in 1957 towing a 40' house trailer. They stoped in Arizona after dark and left before light because they were afraid they would be attacked by the Indians. Funny how fear and bad information scares people. They survived.

My post office is Laveen, City of Phoenix water. I love that there are still some rural areas in Laveen also. Lots of horse property, dairy farms, crops, etc. Further south of Dobbins, 27th to 51st Avenues is beautiful too.

So that means you actually live in the City of Phoenix.....I had a similar situation....had a Glendale post office, but lived in Phoenix.

There are alot of places I stay away from but Youngtown and Sun City scare me the most.:rofl:
