Towing to Rocky Point

Hi everyone,

I am looking to bring my 72 Bronco to Rocky Point. Since it is 40 years old I would rather tow than drive. Anyone here has a trailer I can borrow/rent. I live in Chandler.

Thanks,

AJ

Humm kind of hard to bring a car across on a trailer, might make you take it down and cross under its own power, you know depends who's in charge at the mexican border crossing with their ever changing laws....

How do I get in touch with Geoff?

BTW, the car is in good working condition so it is no problem getting across the border on its own power. The only issue I see in this scenario is if I am not with Geoff. In that case, on Mexican side, they may ask for ownership info.

Geoff will tell you what is needed.

AJ,
Just a note they water the streets to keep the dust down using salt water. If the Bronco is something you want to keep beware it will rust out quick.

It's a 5 speed standard trans and I just put it in neutral. I purchased a set of tow lights from Auto Zone for about $60 and clip them on. I drilled 4 holes in my bumper and bolted the brackets on. Everything works great and it is very easy to tow.

When my friend was towing his "fish launch Blazer down they made him take it off the trailer and drive it across

call Geoff, He did everything, I provided a notarized letter to give him permission to move the car . I did not have to be with him. I also looked into towing but I really think after I looked at the equipment I would have to get and the trouble of towing, I am so very glad I went with Geoff. If was about the same in cost to me as if I had towed it myself.

Lovin it in RP!
I flat towed my 66 Bronco thousands of miles no problem. Front hubs unlocked and Transfer case in Neutral I do the same with my automatic Hippo which is actually a 85 K 5 Blazer as well as my wifes 03 Jeep Liberty AUTO. You should leave autos in drive (transfer neutral of course) this sounds weird but its right. If you want to see how the old guys do it look at Woodalls RV site and look at their forum. These guys tow everything you can think of. They know how to do it.

Never towed a car in gear, seems to me you would get poorer gas mileage than you already getting,No i did not read the article most of the stuff I read I take with a grain of salt, wisdom and knowledge help. I do check my source before before I post thou.

On my 73 Toyota FJ40, flat towing causes the transfer case to still turn without proper lubrication. I was warned against it.

Had my boat towed down and because I did not give the person towing it the actual registration (just a copy) they had all kinds of problems getting in.
