"Warning - scam in Rocky Point.

Beware of a white taxi that has at least 10 dents on the passenger side of the cab. By the end of this story you will know why. I look my car to be washed and when I picked it up I stopped at OXXO to get an ice cream. I came out and there was no one behind my car - except the street ! As I started the car the fellow next to me waved and pointed to the street. A taxi had pulled up behind me and was blocking me. Yes I have Arizona plates. He jumped out of his taxi yelling that I had hit his car and blocked me so I could not get out. He wanted money. I said no but I will call the police. They came !!!! I was there for 2 hours. Since I had the car washed I had taken all the paperwork out of the glove box and it was at home. Two police showed up - the woman was very nice and kept telling me to be quiet ) Since I have a (low) tow package on my car it was not possible that my car had done any of the damage on his very badly dented car and the police lined the cars up to show him that it was not possible and also that he was illegally parked blocking me. Since my car had just been washed you could see that there was not a mark on it. I suspect that many people have fallen for this bandito and given him money but if this happens to you please call the police. They seemed very aware what this character was doing. He will be giving taxi drivers a bad name so watch for this taxi with many dents on the passenger side and do call the police if this happens to you. He looks for USA plates. Finally she told me to go home and I never had to sign anything. Police were great !!!"

Maybe somebody in the future can capture his antics and crime on video. This would be enough to label him a fraud and possible charges on him. Depending on Mexico law of coarse.

The biggest mistake in the world this fool could make is trying this scam behind my 4x4 diesel F250. Ever seen Bigfoot crush cars? Bwahahaha!

Another good reason to have your insurance with Rosie. Call the cops and Rosie and let her represent you. There is no way the conman would get away with anything with your insurance agent present. Stuart, agree with you, and then some, but have no interest in seeing the inside of a RP jail cell!

Super that you posted this story.
Also nice that you iterated that the police were very nice. They are makeing a real effort to work with the Gringos.

These scams seem to be everywhere, I have had friends ask about them because they are happening more frequently these days.
When crossing into Sonyota last year and this year, I get 150-200 feet past the Aduana station and some guy in a beater PU truck
pulls up next to me and said rocks from my tire blew out his windshield, I was going maybe 10mph when he was next to me.

Funny thing is I actually never actually passed him, as soon as he saw my SUV approach from the rear he pulled out on the road to meet me
and demand $50. I just kept driving 25mph through town with this guy following me the whole time.

As soon I cleared town and hit the 80 kph speed limit area , I went to 90 and he turned around to find another victim.

I just laugh at these guys now and don't stop because that's how it could get interesting with the Police.
5 years before in San Carlos, I had the same thing happen with a taxi, just keep driving.
