The Federal Institute of access to information and data protection (IFAI) instructed the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to clarify the expert evidence about the death of Gonzalo Inzunza Inzunza, "El Macho Prieto", alleged operational leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

To respond to a request for information, the rapporteur Commissioner Joel Salas, the PGR contradicted itself, because they first refused to deliver information, arguing that it was recorded and then changed their answer, saying that they did not have any expert opinion on the matter.

"Based on the analysis of this paper, this means or infers or meant that the PGR, on the one hand, regarding the classification, breached articles 43 and 46 of the Federal law of transparency, regarding classified information in their files. And, in relation to the non-existence of said information, there is no evidence that the Committee on information has issued a resolution founded and motivated", said the public meeting of the plenary.

Salas recalled that on December 19, 2013, the National Security Commission reported that Federal Police carried out an operation to capture "El Macho Prieto" and that he may have died, given the results of genetic tests, made from DNA in the place he was supposedly killed, since the body was not located.

"Striking lack of congruence between public communications issued by the National Safety Commission, regarding the death of one of the most wanted suspects in the country, and the lack of availability of evidence in the PGR, for confirmation".

In addition, said the Commissioner, there is the case documented by Amnesty International, of Adrian Vazquez lagoons, who on 26 September 2012 was identified as "El Macho Prieto" and detained by the Ministry of public security of Baja California, Tijuana.

"The report indicates that after two years, Adrián Vázquez remains in prison, and his case has not been resolved, despite the fact that the Federal Government already reported the alleged death of"El Macho Prieto". This case highlights or allows us to ask us another question: why has this not been clarified asked Salas.
