Shore fishing rigs.

I'd posted this with the saltwater fly deals that I'd posted this morning, but I thought I'd start a new thread with it as well.
This Rig, or one similar tipped with a little squid, or Shrimp, will catch some nice Corvina, Pompano, etc.. Use about a ounce or more of lead on there, and preferably with a long, but light to medium action 7ft rod, let er rip... Keep the rod tip up, and keep the Bucktail moving (hop the lead) and twitching, and if there are fish out there this rig, or one like it, will get you lot's of action. I'd like a little lighter line than this one has, but I've done very well with 40lb test. Be ready right when it hit's the water. A ounce or so of lead hitting the water gets their attention fast, and they'll hit the Bucktail by reflex, and hard...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360276744351&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I usualy spool my reel with 12-14 lb test just in case I get into a fish like the one in my avatar

I like to use a Shakespear noodle rod with a clean, well lubricated Abu Garcia 3000 (hard to find these days) spooled with yellow 20 lb. Power Pro.

There are some that come with 3 or more bucktails, or streamers, and I've used them too. Search around ebay under drop rigs, bucktail rigs, stuff like that, and don't pay much attention what they say there for, but what they look like, hook size, and #test .....http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=bucktail+rigs&_sacat=0&_odkw=drop+rigs&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313--- If it looks like it will work, it probably will... I just saw these, and I have no doubt the'd work..http://cgi.ebay.com/Luminous-Bucktails-Feather-Fishing-Lures-Rigs-3x-2-0-/170561671338?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b64490aa... For me half the fun is finding different stuff to throw at em. Yes, at times you are going to pick up some fish that some people consider a nuisance, but then again, I've caught some very nice fish throwing this kind of stuff from shore, and most of all, it's fun!

Bob, you'll like this.
When I was down at that little Estuary north of Santo Tomas I noticed that the incoming tide ran very much like a river I'd fished in Washington, except without the tree's..LOL It has a sloping sandbank on the far side that went into a deep trough, and came back up sharply on the side I was fishing from. I need a Corky, I thought. So when I got home I went on ebay and bought a few in the blue crab color and couldn't wait to try them out.... OK, so I tipped the hook below the corky that was about 30" down from the lead with just a dab of Shrimp for smell. I then cast it over to my left toward the bank and started bouncing it along just like you would for a Steelhead, and as I worked it to my right, and just as the weight started to lift, BAM! A nice Corvina.

In case some of you don't know what a Corky is, it's simply a cork that been coated with colored plastic, with hole a hole through the middle that you thread the line through. You tie a hook under it, and then slide the Corky down to the hook. You can then put a toothpick into the top of where the line goes in, and break it off to keep the Corky from sliding up. I just did it for the fun of it... I'm not saying go out and buy some Corky's, but this is how simple they are....http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=corky+fishing&_sacat=0&_odkw=corky+fish&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
You know that 3 bead with a spinner blade on a snell rig the Eagle Claw has had forever..I tell that one later.
