  • Mexico considers raising drinking age

Mexico is looking at changing its legal drinking age from 18 to 21. That could impact spring break and other tourism traffic to Rocky Point, Nogales, Cancun and other destinations favored by college students and others.
For years, Arizona State University and University of Arizona students, as well as young members of the U.S. military based at Luke Air Force Base and other installations here, have traveled to Mexico for vacations and long weekends. Part of that lure was Mexico's younger drinking age.
The plan still needs to go through political approvals. Drug and gang violence in Mexico has already taken a bite out of tourism there.

I had just bought a new camera too! 12x zoom! How does Mexico intend to penalize illegal consumption? The whole 16-20 population of Rocky Point would be in jail. Tent city out by the sewage on the Caborca highway out past Las Conchas?
