Mariachi bands

Is there a general rule of thumb as to what to give a mariachi band for singing some songs tableside in the restaurants? We have occasionally taken them up on their offer to perform for us, but always wonder what we generally tip them to be appropriate.

I think it depends on how many musicians there are. I had a group at Friendly dolphin one night and for 4 songs it was 20.00 usd. I thought it was too much but there were 3 members (it was the father daughter team) They are very good but a bit pricey.

Always ask first to eliminate any arguments or hard feelings. My friends and I have found 2 songs for $5 to be the norm over the years.

I guess I'm in the ballpark, although I mostly had the big group of 6 or 7 band members up at the Capitan when I would bring newbie guests to PP. I usually gave them a twenty for 3 or 4 songs.
