After getting us lost (I'm really, really good at that), discussing directions with two young ladies who lived a far distance from La Cita but pointed us in the general direction - then more directions from another gentleman who was crossing the street, we finally arrived at La Cita. If one does not have me as a navigator it is apparently fairly easy to find - I will not give directions as with mine you will probably end up at the east section of town rather then close to the main road (BJ). Did I mention that I was even working with a map!
Arturo introduced himself when we arrived and within moments we felt like we were old friends (used to go to the old La Cita at the old port since 1957). Rosie arrived, and of course she and Arturo were friends, so even more talking. Place was very clean and pleasant. There are no views, off on a side street, but if you want great food, better prices, and a place that you will probably find less tourists, you will enjoy La Cita. GD's boyfriend said it was the best Coke he had ever had - in an old glass bottle. I found my wonderful old tacos at 40 pesos for a plate of 3. Kids had tostados (3 to a plate and they looked great). Rosie had an omelet that looked really good. Their specialty is mole poblano at either 80 or 85 pesos - I'll be back to try that as La Cita was the first place I ever had it and I loved it.
For a party of 4, including drinks, our bill came to a little over $19.
Plus, if you get lost you end up meeting a lot of really nice people who are more then willing to stop and try to get you headed in the correct direction.
I do love Penasco!!!!
