Loco Pelicanos

Pelicanos going nuts feeding of the beach in Unconscius. Must be a lot of food out there. Several pangeros were netting out there earlier for corvine who prolly came to the feast.

I went snorkeling in off Pinto point in Cholla Bay on Saturday and from 20-50 feet off the shore were huge schools of 2-3" long silver fish (sardines?).

Literally there were millions of them and when you got under the huge swarms of fish, being back lit with sunlight, that provided a
spectacular image, I wish I had my water proof camera with.

Later a bit further out I had 2 pelicans hit the water not 10 feet from us and came up with a 6-8" long fish, that surprised the heck out of us.

The little fishies must be all over. The huge feed continued this morning as far as I could see up and down the coast with binoculars !! Odd that with all the fishes and pelican action I found none on the beach this morning.

Sardine boats are soon to follow. Funny how they know when the sardines come in. Boy they sure do get alot of them . Leigh

I watched 2 pangas, each with only one person and no visible fishing gear, go up and down the beach stopping periodically and appearing to observe either the pelicanos or the fishes.

Beach is devoid of Pelicano activity but I spotted several small groups, 10 or so, off in the sea maybe 1/2 mile or so that were feeding, but not in the typical manner. These birds, accompanied by the usual thief birds, were not diving, but floating and dipping. I could see that they were feeding with the binocs. Never saw that type of feeding before. Just thought you would all want to know that important information.

All I know is that I got pooped on by a Pelican once. Ruined my date. None of you know how big a pelican poop is.... That is all.
