Labor Day Fishing (or Bust)

The wife has informed me that we are fishing on Labor Day weekend. Who am I say to no? I'm assuming she has informed the Weather Gods of this, as well. They don't dare mess with my wife. So, once again, I'm planning on taking great pictures of her and her catch while I get skunked or break off huge fish. It always works that way when she's aboard.

Anybody else planning on being down that weekend? Tides look good.

It's like that when Tammy and I go fishing too, fresh or salt water. She gets so excited I love to see her catch fish. We were largemouth fishing one day and she caught two largemouth bass clse to 10 lb. each (catch and release) on a damn little red and white daredevil spoon, her favorite lure. The biggest one my buddy Manny and I using regular bass lures was maybe 16". She may have also caught a world record corvina (38.5" long) when we were fishing out of San Filipe. I didn't have a camera at the time. We just threw it in the cooler, took it home and ate it. I caught a world record grayling when I first started fishing in Alaska. I didn't know anything about it then. Me and my buddy Ed had it for supper. I went back the next day when I found out and we couldn't even find the bones. I wonder how many world records go unpublished or counted. I did one time catch a silver or coho salmon that was just 4 oz. under the world record. It pissed my buddy Jim off too because it took me a long time to land it on 6 1/2 lb. test Scotch Line. He missed a softball game he was supposed to play in.

Stay Thirsty My Friends
I'd love to be heading down labor day weekend, but I've got another fishing-related project in the works that will not be wrapped up by then...

I have a trip down with two of my buds locked in for Sept 29-Oct 2.

I am going to attempt to go, it all depends what the weather is doing, I just hoped there ios some sort of breeze, I said breeze so maybe I will see you there, good luck if I dont make it

I am heading down with the family. Still debating on bringing the boat down though. I miss not having it down there but don't miss cleaning the sand out.

hey big daddy. big bait equals big fish. oh let me tell you what kind of knots you should use to increase your odds from knot slippage. me personaly i prefer the palomar it it way strong and does not let me down. dont forget that bonefish is the bait of choice. fish the reef mud flats are not good for grouper. i think that covers it. oh and having your wife on the boat to catch the fish wont hurt either.

Okay guys, you are going to be the deciding factor as to whether or not we come down this weekend. I look to you all to let me know what the water conditions are going to be like. It is going to be so unforgiving humid, I'm sure, but as long as I can get in the water it's okay. If I can't get in the water, then I'm staying home. So, does it look like it's still going to be fishing weather this weekend?? If you're all coming, then I'm assuming all is good. I know you're all hoping for the best, but can someone dial it in a little better for me please???

In reality, not projection, the temp and humidity have been very moderate the past 4 or 5 days. It was in the 70's last night at my house in the Mirador, humidity in the 40%. I had the AC off and windows open. Now there is fuctuation in the day with temps going up, maybe into the low 90's. I have been sitting on the beach late afternoos, in the shade, without breaking a sweat. Hope it stays like this till first frost.
