Labor Day Attendance Observations

From the pics that Russ posted the other day (http://www.rockypointtalk.com/showthread.php?4698-Busy-in-RP-Sept-4th ), at least Sandy Beach by the Reef looked packed, and plus he and Rosy had said on the Rocky Point Ramblings radio show that the Malecon was pretty busy Saturday morning. On Monday there was at least a 90+ minute wait at the border...

So what were some of your observations about this Labor Day weekend? How much of an increase did it feel like from last year? Hotel rentals up? Were the beaches on Las Conchas and Mirador packed? Lots of people pending money in the restaurants, markets (fish as well), bars, going on sunset cruises, etc.? Mostly families, couples, older, younger or a good mix? Any of the bars hoppin' past 10pm?

Mostly AZ plates? CA? Good mix? Which day was busiest?

This is not a labor day observation, just a thought. You have to be crazy to be poring concrete this time of year!!:sunny: And I thought you seemed to be a well rounded person with sensibilities.I was wrong.

In my way in to Rocky Point on Thursday and again in Friday I saw quite a bid of traffic from the Arizona side in both 85 and 86, I returned on Sunday around 4:15 and at the border there was no wait at all but it was Sunday most people return in Monday.
Most of the time I stay in the Mirador area and at least at the time I am out both Capones and Pinky's were full, because my comitment to my customers I do not drink the day before I drive so I can not say how things were past 10 pm on Saturday, however I could hear the sound/music coming from the bars, luckly from far away!!

Lovin it in RP!
Most of the plates I saw on Sandy Beach were either Arizona or California. I have a great picture of a 1975 Caddie on the beach with a palapa for an umbrella and the guys were from Tucson. They loved their car as they built it from the "junk" they were given....If you want to see it sign up for my Monday morning mailer we are using it as a photo of the week cause it was so cool. Mailed for over 2 years every Monday without fail. Penasco Recreation Mailer

One of the watering holes on the Malecon indicated that their business for Labor Day weekend was up 25% from last year.....don't know if that's saying all that much with the way business was.

Hey Eduardo....one of those ladies you gave a ride to on Sunday was entered in the wet t-shirt contest at Pinkies....you could have waited a bit before taking her away!!! She probably would have won!!
